1 The Confederation allocates grants to laboratories recognized as national centres (art. 5, para. 3, of the Act of 18 Dec. 1970 on epidemics) for expenditure arising from their special tasks.

The national centres apply for a grant to the Federal Office of Public Health (Federal Office).
The Federal Office sets the grant rate based on the type and size of the measures and determines the costs that may be taken into account.
The Confederation may provide grants to recognized umbrella organizations working against tuberculosis for measures of national importance for the prevention, screening and control of tuberculosis.
Private-line TB organizations that wish to be recognized as public utility organizations within the meaning of s. 14 of the Federal Law of 13 June 1928 on the fight against tuberculosis addressed a request to the Federal Office. To this end, they will provide all the necessary information on their organisation, programme of activity and financial situation.
The recognised umbrella organisations apply to the Federal Office for a grant with their activity report, the annual accounts stopped and checked, and the supporting documents.
The Confederation may allocate grants for scientific work in the field of rheumatology and for the dissemination of the knowledge acquired. Grants will, as a general rule, only be awarded to institutes having their headquarters in Switzerland and to scientists domiciled in Switzerland.
The grant application must be sent to the Federal Office before the start of the work. It shall contain all necessary indications as to the scope of the research, the programme of work and the expenditure envisaged for staff, equipment and publication costs.
The Federal Office sets the grant rate based on the scientific importance of the work and determines which expenditure can be taken into account.
After completion of the project, a final report and a detailed account, together with supporting documents, must be submitted to the Federal Office. The latter fixed the final amount of the grant and proceeded to settle the balance.
Publications relating to subsidized work must be provided free of charge to the Federal Office, in at least three copies.
The Confederation can provide grants to recognized umbrella organizations that are fighting rheumatism for measures of national significance for population information, as well as advice and support for rheumatism.
Private works to combat rheumatism who wish to be recognized as public utility organizations within the meaning of s. 2, para. 3, of the Federal Act of 22 June 1962 concerning the allocation of subsidies for the fight against rheumatic diseases addressed a request to the Federal Office. To this end, they will provide all the necessary information on their organisation, programme of activity and financial situation.
The recognised umbrella organisations apply to the Federal Office for a grant with their activity report, the annual accounts stopped and checked, and the supporting documents.
1 The Federal Office shall monitor whether the subsidies are used in accordance with their destination.
2 Subsidies must be returned when they are wrongly perceived or the beneficiary persists, despite a warning, to distract them from their purpose.
