For which the Memory of the Exappointee to the Presidency of the Republic of Dr. Alvaro Gomez Hurtado is honored

THE CONGRESS OF COLOMBIA,

DECRETA:

ARTICLE 1o. The Republic honors the memory of the former President of the Presidency, Dr. Alvaro Gomez Hurtado, a citizen of Colombia's benemerito, and he extols his life and his work as a model of dignity and consecration to the service. of the Colombians.

ARTICLE 2o. The Republic of Colombia presents the life and work of Dr. Alvaro Gomez Hurtado to the new generations as an example of republican and patriotic virtue and as a model of honesty and compliance with the ethical values that must guide the destinies of the Colombian Nation.

ARTICLE 3o. An oil of his will be placed in the Senate of the Republic and a monument of his will be erected in the city of Santa Fe de Bogota, on the site that indicates his family and the district authorities.

ARTICLE 4. The Senate of the Republic will publish in luxury edition the selected works of Dr. Alvaro Gomez Hurtado.

ARTICLE 5o. The National Government will bring forward a program that contemplates the studies and works necessary for the regulation of the Magdalena River and its entire basin, a program called Alvaro Gomez Hurtado.

ARTICLE 6o. The National Government will build in the city of Santa Fe de Bogota, the birthplace of Dr. Alvaro Gomez Hurtado, a library specializing in journalism and economic development, which will comprise plus a pinacoteca and a music conservatory. The library will bear his name and on his porch his statue will be lifted.

ARTICLE 7o. Declare the day 2 of November of each year as the national day of the tolerance.

ARTICLE 8. Public and private educational establishments in coordination with municipal and district representatives will commemorate with the realization of forums, conferences, workshops and reflection days concerning tolerance, respect for life and peaceful coexistence.

ARTICLE 9o. Authorize the National Government to incorporate into the General Budget of the Nation, the budgetary appropriations necessary for compliance with the provisions of this Law.

ARTICLE 10. This Law governs from its enactment.
