Law 64 of 2006 amending Legislative Decree No 98 of 1961 judiciary law raising the retirement age to 70, President of the Republic based on the Constitution and approved by the Assembly in its meeting dated 6 -12-1427 Hijri in 26-12-2006 a.d. issued: article 1 amends article 101 of the judicial authority Act promulgated by Legislative Decree No 98 date 15-11-1961 and amendments as follows : A-judges referred to retire upon completion of seventy years of service may be extended not solar and not deprived of retirement for any reason.

B-the Supreme Council of judges decide to terminate service when completed sixty-fifth judge. Or beyond. If the Board found that he was no longer able to meet the requirements of the judicial function.

Termination is done in this case by Decree and drain the judge terminated rights according to laws in force.

Article 2 is benefiting from the proceeds of the Fund in accordance with article II judicial scrutiny of Legislative Decree No 94 3-10-2005 date judge who separates based on paragraph b of article 101 of the judicial authority law amended by article 1 of this law as well as the judge who resigns when completed sixty-fifth or beyond.

Article 3 of this law shall be published in the Official Gazette and shall be deemed effective as of the date of Damascus in 7 -12-1427 Hijri to Gregorian 2006-27 -12 President Bashar Al-Assad
