TEXT

The increase in the flow of Spanish tourists, as well as the need to attend the Spanish colony in the Kingdom of Lesotho, justify the opening of a new Honorary Consular Office in its capital, Maseru. The gradual increase of the Spanish tourists visiting Lesotho makes it necessary a continuous update of the travel recommendations for that country. The presence of that Honorary Consular Office in Maseru would allow a continuous flow of information on the country's security or health conditions, as well as coordination with our representations in South Africa for the management of possible crisis in the same. In addition, a new Honorary Consular Office in the Kingdom of Lesotho would give Spain greater visibility to the authorities of the country, especially in the economic sphere, allowing for an improvement in commercial relations and reporting on the investment opportunities.

Therefore, on the initiative of the Directorate-General of the External Service, in accordance with the proposal made by the Embassy of Spain in Pretoria (Republic of South Africa), with the favourable report of the Directorate-General for Foreign Affairs Consular and Migration and the Directorate General for Africa, I have had to arrange:

First.

An Honorary Consular Office of Spain is created in Maseru (the Kingdom of Lesotho), with jurisdiction in the Kingdom of Lesotho, with a category of Honorary Consulate and dependent on the Embassy of Spain in Pretoria (Republic of South Africa).

Second.

The Head of the Honorary Consular Office of Spain in Maseru (Kingdom of Lesotho) shall have, in accordance with Article 9 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 24 April 1963, Category of Honorary Consul.

Madrid, December 15, 2011. -Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Trinidad Jiménez García-Herrera.
