The Board of Directors of the University of A Coruña approved on December 22, 2009 memory of the curriculum of graduate or graduate in marine engineering. This denomination was adopted for this title initially by Spanish universities that offer this degree. After such approval, the University began them procedures necessary for get the verification from the Council of universities and the authorization of the community autonomous, resulting finally approved in Council of Ministers of 11 of February of 2011 (published in the «newsletter official of the State», «BOE», of 16 of March, by resolution of the Secretary of State of universities of 25 of February of 2011) e registered in the record of universities , Centers and titles (RUCT). The corresponding curriculum was published in the «official Gazette» April 18, 2011.

The official school of naval engineers filed contentious-administrative appeal against the agreement of the Council of Ministers of 11 February 2011, which established the official nature of certain titles of degree and its registration in the register of universities, centres and degrees. The judgment of the Supreme Court (third Chamber, section 4) December 13, 2013, the aforementioned appeal partly estimated. Requested clarification of the statement of reference by the solicitor of the State, the Hall issued, dated 24 February 2014, which according to failing the cancellation only insofar as they joined the denomination of the title the noun of engineering.

On April 23, 2014 Director General University policy forwards a copy of the resolution of the Directorate-General of University policy by which gives fulfillment to the judgement of the Supreme Court of 13 December 2014 (Rec. (Ordinary 286 / 2011) and that establishes that «da by cancelled, with effects from the 8 of April of 2014, the agreement of the Council of Ministers of 11 of February of 2011, by which is established the character official of certain titles of grade and its registration in the register of universities, centres and titles in what is refers to them titles of graduated or graduated in engineering Marina and graduated or graduated in engineering nautical and transport maritime» by the University of A Coruña as incorporated into its name the noun engineering».

To comply with this ruling of the Supreme Court, the University of A Coruña approved the name change of the title of graduate or graduate in marine engineering, by the graduate or graduate in marine technologies by agreement of its Governing Council date on September 30, 2014, which received a favourable report from the Agency for the quality of the University system of Galicia date March 23, 2015 and authorization of the Xunta de Galicia, by order of the Ministry of culture, education and University Planning, of June 4, 2015, published in the «official journal of Galicia» of 17 June 2015.

By it exposed, this Rector's Office, under it willing in the article 28.3 of the Real Decree 1393 / 2007, of 29 of October, by which is sets the management of them teachings University official, in the writing given by the Real Decree 861 / 2010, of 2 of July, by which is modifies the previous, has determined order the publication of the mentioned change of denomination of the title of graduated or graduated in engineering Marina by the of graduated or Graduated in marine technologies by the University of A Coruña, as well as the publication of the corresponding updated curriculum.

The present resolution leaves without effect the resolution rectoral of date of 30 of March of 2011, by which is published initially the plan of studies of the title now modified ("BOE» of 18 of April of 2011).
