RUSSIAN FEDERATION FEDERAL LAW on amendments to articles 225 and 226 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation adopted by the State Duma April 5, 2002 year approved by the Federation Council of the year April 23, 2002 Article 1. Amend the Penal Code of the Russian Federation (collection of laws of the Russian Federation, 1996, no. 25, text 2954): part two of article 225 shall be reworded as follows: "2. Improper performance of duties for the protection of nuclear, chemical or other weapons of mass destruction or materials or equipment that could be used to produce weapons of mass destruction, if it led to serious consequences or threatens their occurrence shall be punished with imprisonment for a term of three to seven years, with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years. ";
part two article 226 shall be reworded as follows: "2. The theft or extortion of nuclear, chemical or other weapons of mass destruction, as well as of materials or equipment that could be used to produce weapons of mass destruction, shall be punishable by deprivation of liberty for a term from five up to ten years."
Article 2. This federal law shall enter into force on the day of its official publication.
