PRESIDENCY of the COUNCIL of MINISTERS 1 motion for a resolution paragraph 94/XII the Convention No. 189 concerning decent work for the workers and Domestic Service workers, was adopted by the General Conference of the International Labour Organisation, in your 100.ª session, held in Geneva on 16 June 2011. This Convention aims to ensure the workers and domestic service workers a minimum equivalent protection to other categories of workers, with regard to fundamental rights at work, whether in the field of protection against fraudulent or abusive practices or, in the case of workers and workers housed in household/, of respect for private life. In this sense, the present international legal instrument enshrining, inter alia, a set of provisions concerning living and working conditions, safety and health at work, the minimum age, remuneration and social security. On the object of the Convention paragraph 189, it should be noted that the principles enshrined therein are welcomed, in your vast majority, by the Portuguese legal order. On the other hand, and considering that there are certain provisions of the Convention which relate to matters within the competence of the European Union, was adopted the Council decision of 28 January 2014, authorising Member States to ratify, in the interests of the Union, the Convention on decent work for domestic workers, from 2011, the International Labour Organisation (Convention No. 189) as regards the parts which focus on matters of the competence conferred on the Union by the treaties. The social partners were heard with seat in the Permanent Committee of Social dialogue of the economic and Social Council.

PRESIDENCY of the COUNCIL of MINISTERS So 2: under d) of paragraph 1 of article 197 of the Constitution, the Government presents to the Assembly of the Republic the following resolution: to approve the Convention No. 189 concerning decent work for the workers and Domestic Service workers, adopted by the General Conference of the International Labour Organisation, in your 100.ª session held in Geneva on 16 June 2011, the text, in English and authenticated version and its translation to Portuguese language, if published in annex Seen and approved by the Council of Ministers of 18 September 2014 the Prime Minister and State Minister for Foreign Affairs the Minister of Presidency and Parliamentary Affairs
