Proposal for Resolution No 24 /XII
The Convention No. 184 on Safety and Health in Agriculture, was adopted by the
General Conference of the International Labour Organization, at its 89 th Session, held
in Geneva on June 21, 2001.
The Convention that it is intended to approve integrates the first international standards
exhaustives in safety and health in agriculture, according to which they must
be developed national policies.
The Convention No. 184 on Safety and Health in Agriculture regulates aspects
important of safety and health in agriculture, such as prevention and protection in
safety and ergonomics of machinery, maintenance and transport of materials,
handling of the chemicals and animals and the construction and maintenance of the
agricultural facilities. This Convention also contains provisions on the work of the
young people and minors in agriculture, temporary and seasonal workers, protection in the
illness and accidents at work, welfare and accommodation.
The provisions of the Convention which it is intended to approve find already correspondence
in the national legal order.
Thus:
Under the terms of the paragraph d) of Article 197 (1) of the Constitution, the Government presents to the
Assembly of the Republic the following proposal for a Resolution:

To approve the Convention No. 184 on Safety and Health in Agriculture, adopted by the
General Conference of the International Labour Organization, at its 89 th Session, held
in Geneva on June 21, 2001, the text of which, in the authenticated version in the French language,
as well as the respective translation for Portuguese language, if they publish in attachment.
