CHAIR OF THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS

1

Proposal for Resolution No. 126 /X

Considering that the Portuguese Republic is a member of the World Organisation of the

Customs;

Having to the attention that the Convention on the establishment of a Cooperation Council

Customs, 1950, does not provide for the possibility of customs and economic unions to be

Part of the said Convention;

Considering that the adoption of the amendments to the Convention establishing a Council of

Customs cooperation has a positive impact on the scope of strengthening the areas of

intervention of the European Community;

Attending to that Article XX of the Convention for the establishment of a Council of

Customs cooperation, adopted in Brussels, on December 15, 1950, provides for

possibility of the Customs Cooperation Council recommending amendments to the Convention.

Thus:

Under the terms of the paragraph d) of Article 197 (1) of the Constitution, the Government presents to the

Assembly of the Republic the following proposal for a Resolution:

Approve the Recommendation of the Customs Cooperation Council on the Amendment of the

Convention for the establishment of a Customs Cooperation Council, June 30-

2007, the text of which, in the French-language-authenticated version and its translation for language

portuguese, it publishes in annex.

Seen and approved in Council of Ministers of January 21, 2009
