Definition of the competences of the House of Douro The House of Douro was created on November 18, 1932, over the ages, and
fruit of the support it gave to the winemakers gained a great importance in the region of the
Douro, has been batting over the years for the defense of the Douro's winemakers, but
also for the defence of the good quality of the wines produced in the region, with
House of the Douro is the true representative of the Douro's winemaking producers.
The House of Douro has a pivotal importance not only in economic terms but
also at the level of tourism where through the Wine of Porto is released the name of
Portugal.
The Decree-law No. 47/2007 of February 27, 2007 established a new law
organic for the IVDP, since then outside established new procedures in the
demarcated region of the Douro, which to be taken away lay in cause the good
operation of the House of the Douro once it is withdrawn numerous
competencies, skills these are key to the sustainability of the
House of the Douro, as well as for all the winemakers in the region.
With the entry into force of the Decree-Law 47/2007 the IVDP (Institute of the Wines of the
Douro and Porto) started gradually to perform functions that even here were
performed by the House of Douro, particularly with regard to the
use and update of the enrollment, having in 2008 terminated the protocol with the
House of the Douro on the use of the enrollment.

In the face of this situation will be wasted much of the resources of the House of the
Douro, where huge investments have been made over the past few years, being
also posts concerned the outposts of several collaborators who
play this role.
With this scenario and important and urgent defining what the role of the House of Douro, in the
defence of the winemakers as well as clarify their status as it will only be so
possible to the House of Douro maintain its financial and economic sustainability.
Thus, the CDS-PP Parliamentary Group presents the following Project of
Resolution:
In accordance with Article 156º (b) of the Constitution and paragraph 1 (b) of the
Article 4º of the Rules, the Assembly of the Republic recommends to the Government
that:
The Government clarifies the Statute and competences of the House of Douro in the
set of the institutional building of the winemaking sector of the Douro region, from
mode to which the resources of the House of Douro are actually harnished.
