1 motion for a resolution paragraph 92/X PR 325/2008 2008-06-19 in view of the desire to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the Portuguese and Chinese people; Aware of the importance to both States to promote cooperation in the criminal field, particularly as regards extradition; Having regard to the Treaty between the Portuguese Republic and the People's Republic of China on Extradition aims to strengthen cooperation between the two countries on prevention and elimination of crime, through provisions aimed at reciprocal extradition of persons for criminal purposes or for fulfilment of a penalty involving deprivation of liberty applied by a Court of the parties. So: in accordance with subparagraph (d)) of article 197 of the Constitution, the Government presents to the Assembly of the Republic the following resolution: to approve the Treaty between the Portuguese Republic and the People's Republic of China on Extradition, signed in Beijing on 31 January 2007, the text of which, in the authenticated versions in Portuguese, Chinese and English, if published in the annex.
