MOTION FOR RESOLUTION No. 113 /X

Taking into account the existing cooperation through direct contacts between the Ramos das

Armed forces of Portugal and Brazil, as well as the various activities and exchanges

already developed;

Considering that such cooperation can be extended and deepened in various fields of the

security and defence, including the defence technologies and industries;

Given that Article 65 of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Consultation between

Portuguese Republic and the Federative Republic of Brazil, signed in Porto Seguro, in 22

of April 2000, provides for the development of cooperation in the field of Defence;

Foreseeing § 8 of the Joint Declaration of the VII Luso-Brazilian Summit Meeting of March 8

2004, the extension of the scope of bilateral cooperation in the field of Defence;

Thus:

Under the terms of the paragraph d) of Article 197 (1) of the Constitution, the Government presents to the

Assembly of the Republic the following Proposal for a Resolution:

Approve the Agreement between the Portuguese Republic and the Federative Republic of Brazil on

Cooperation in the Field of Defence, signed in Porto, on October 13, 2005, whose

text, in the authenticated version in Portuguese language, publishes in attachment.
