Seventh amendment to Decree-Law No. 125/82 of April 22, which regulates
the composition, competence and functioning regime of the Council
National of Education
Exhibition of reasons
The National Board of Education, independent body with advisory functions in
educational policy matter, is recognized by the quality of the work developed
since its creation, which is reflected in its opinions and recommendations, passing through
search for consensus in the subjects of their competence.
However, it appears to be now important to make changes to ensure a
better functioning of the National Board of Education, particularly in what
respects the length of the term of office, passing this to be four years.
Thus, the undersigned, under constitutional and regimental terms
applicable, present the following:

Article 1.
Changes
Article 5 of the Decree-Law No. 125/82 of April 22, ratified, with the amendments,
by Law No. 31/87 of July 9, and with the amendments introduced by the Decrees-Laws
n. 89/88 of March 10, 423/88, November 14, 244/91, July 6, 241/96,
of December 17, and 214/2005, of December 9, is replaced by the following:
" Article 5.

1. Members of the Council shall be designated for a renewable period of four
years.
2. Except for the provisions of the preceding paragraph, the members designated in
representation of a given organ, if in the meantime they lose the quality
that determined its designation.

Article 2.
Republication
It is republished in full in annex the regime regulating composition, skills
and operation of the National Board of Education, with the amendments introduced
by the present Law already entered in the places of its own.
