PRESIDENCY of the COUNCIL of MINISTERS resolution No. 99/X taking into account that the international agreement on tropical timber 2006 adopted at Geneva on 26 January, in the context of the United Nations Conference on trade and development, and repealing the 1994 international agreement on Tropical Timber, which the Portuguese Republic is part sets out certain principles and measures to promote the sustainable development of the European Union, determining a strategy that targets the international trade in tropical timber from sustainably managed sources; Considering the need to improve market information and encourage information-sharing on the international timber market with a view to ensuring greater transparency and better information on the markets and their trends, including through the collection, compilation and dissemination of trade related data, in particular those that refer to the marketed species. So: under d) of paragraph 1 of article 197 of the Constitution, the Government presents to the Assembly of the Republic the following resolution: to approve the international agreement on tropical timber 2006, adopted at Geneva on 27 January 2006, the text of which, in the authenticated version in the English language, as well as their translation into Portuguese language , published in the annex.
