MOTION for a RESOLUTION paragraph 81/X recognising that the fight against crime is a shared responsibility of the international community; Conscious of the need to strengthen judicial cooperation in criminal matters and to ensure that legal assistance is carried out with speed and efficiency; So: under d) of paragraph 1 of article 197 of the Constitution, the Government presents to the Assembly of the Republic the following motion for a resolution: 1. Article° Approving the Convention on legal assistance in criminal matters between the Member States of the community of Portuguese Language countries, signed in the city of Praia, on 23 November 2005, the text authenticated version in Portuguese language, if published in the annex. Article 2° Declare, for the purposes of paragraph 2 of article 7 of the Convention, that the Portuguese Republic accepts the transmission and reception of requests for assistance referred to in subparagraph (b)): «direct communication between competent authorities and between these and the central authorities or between central authorities».
Article 3° Declare, for the purposes of paragraph 4 of article 7 of the Convention, the authority of the Portuguese Republic for the implementation of the Convention is the Attorney General of the Republic.
