Parent Regulations Cap. 1. Forskriftens active areas section 1-1. The regulation applies to the recording, study, exams and degrees at the Norwegian environmental and Biosciences University (NMBU), including also exams outside the NMBU that is responsible for the NMBU exam.

§ 1-2. The regulation also applies to eksaminander that is not taken up as students at NMBU, once these are given the right to retake the exam.

Kap. 2. Regulatory provisions section 2-1. In cases where the decision-making authority is added to the University, meet decisions of the principal or the principal gives power of attorney to. It appears from the regulations which the authority is given. Where the decision-making authority is added to University Board itself, the College Board itself or the Department Board itself, can not be delegated authority.

§ 2-3. Study selection may adopt supplementary provisions and instructions within the scope of this regulation.

Kap. 3. language and Information Rights section 3-1. NMBU is committed to provide information about the regulations, studies and topics on the Norwegian and English.

section 3-2. The University can use all submitted exam works to the educational and research purposes.

Recording Chapter. 4. Capture frames and regulation section 4-1. Recording frame for the individual program of study is determined by the University Board.

Kap. 5. section 5-Opptakskomiteer 1. It nedsettes a central recording Committee and opptakskomiteer for the master program and higher extra grade.

Kap. 6. Admission to basic studies section 6-1. Rules for admission to basic studies through Samordna opptak (SO) are determined by the Ministry.

§ 6-2. When applying through SO they apply national deadlines set out by the Ministry for the application, documentation and redirection of the response deadline by offers of study space.

section 6-3. Rules for admission to basic educations out of SO determined by the University Board of directors after recommendation from the study selection.

section 6-4. The principal can fix closer to guidelines for the real competencies assessment within the framework the Ministry has laid down.

Kap. 7. Admission to the higher extra grade section 7-1. Students with relevant education from other institution can apply for admission to the higher extra grade in the study.

Kap. 8. Admission to the research training (ph. d.) and researcher line veterinary study section 8-1. Rules for admission to the research training (ph. d.) is determined by the University Board.

section 8-2. Rules for admission to the research line for veterinary students are determined by the academic leader in veterinary and animal usually studies.

Kap. 9. Admission to ppu (PPU) § 9-1. To be admitted to the PPU applicant must document the skills that qualify for teaching and dissemination within science or nature of use, or a combination of these.

Kap. 10. Admission to the individual topics section 10-1. By admission to the individual topics apply to the General requirements for admission to the program topic belongs to.

section 10-2. Study selection may determine additional requirements after recommendation from teaching the selection by topic responsible Department.

Kap. 11 admission to after-and continuing education section 11-1. By admission to further education comes to the General requirements for admission to basic studies.

section 11-2. Deadlines for application, redirection of documentation and the response deadline by offers of study space is determined by the Centre for after-and further education (SEVU).

section 11-3. It comes to no special requirements for admission to the postgraduate course.

Kap. 12. Admission to additional education in veterinary and animal usually programmes undertaken section 12-1. For admission and ranking of students to additional education; i.e. education for veterinarians and animal caregivers with education from abroad and who do not receive authorization in Norway, comes to their own guidelines.

Kap. 13. Recording of the guest students § 13-1. The requirements of admission of the guest students are determined through agreements between the cooperative institutions and NMBU.

Kap. 14. the postponement of the study start (booked study place) section 14-1. Applicants who are admitted as students at the NMBU can get a one-year postponement of the study start by disease, pregnancy, military service or special welfare reasons.

Kap. 15. Complain about the decision on the recording section 15-1. Applicants have the complaint right on decisions regarding admission to the course of study in accordance with the administrative law section 28 flg. Appeal deadline is three weeks, jf. Management Act, section 29.

Kap. 16. Fake diplomas, fake documents and documents issued from the fake institutions § 16-1. The use of false testimony or other false documents is prohibited. The same applies for documents issued from the fake institutions.

Studies Chapter. 17. Study the right section 17-1. The who has accepted offers of study space, be assigned to study right next to NMBU. Rights associated with a program of study, for example, the right to education, exams, practice, mandatory tasks in studies, access to the necessary AIDS, laboratory courses, organized guidance and other necessary resources the University offers.

section 17-2. Students with study right next to NMBU to sign up duties each semester within the announced deadlines set by the study Committee. For students who have entered into an educational plan, the registration shall fix and confirm information in the educational plan for the current semester.
For other students comes to a corresponding obligation to register.

section 17-3. Students who are admitted to a degree program at NMBU, the campus Hill, given a study right in one year beyond the prescribed time for the program. Students who are admitted to veterinary school is given a study right on up to eight years. Students who are admitted to the animal usually study be given a study right on up to three years.

Kap. 18. The academic year section 18-1. Fall semester begins in mid-august and ends ultimo December. Spring semester begins January and finish the primo ultimo June. During this period will be teaching and examination be conducted normally.

§ 18-2. Expected student workload is averaging 60 credits per year.

Kap. 19. Approval program of study section 19-1. It should be approved for all study plans study program that is offered by NMBU. All the program of study should be approved in line with NMBUs quality assurance routines for the approval of the program of study. Quality assurance procedures should build on regulations on the supervision of the quality of education in higher education (study the supervisory regulations) from the national body for quality in education (KUT).

Kap. 20. The creation and closure of the academic program section 20-1. University Board itself adopts the creation and closure of the academic program at the proposal from the responsible Department and the recommendation from the study selection.

Kap. 21 approval of the topics section 21-1. All topics should be approved in line with the quality assurance NMBUs routines for the approval of topics and described in line with the guidelines prepared by the study Committee.

Kap. 22 the creation and closure of the topics section 22-1. The Department Board itself create and dismantle topics after recommendation from the Institute's educational Committee.

Kap. 23 Special curriculum § 23-1. A special curriculum is a theoretical and/or practical work task that is not specified as a separate subject or as a part of a subject in the study Handbook. Special curriculum can be taken in relation to the degree thesis, jf. specific guidelines in section 46-2. A special curriculum must be managed within the Department's area of expertise and teaching capacity. Two or more institutes can work together on a special curriculum, and it is the tutor (e) for the special curriculum that has the responsibility to make sure that the student (s) have a satisfactory professional background.

-Special curriculum can be performed by a single student or of a group of students.

-in each degree can only enter into two special pensumer.

-in a bachelor's degree may only enter into 10 credits special curriculum.

-in a 2-year master's degree may only enter into 20 credits special curriculum.

-in a 5-year-old master's degree may only enter into 30 credits special curriculum.

-the exception applies to special curriculum on ph. d.-level.


Before starting it is designed a written agreement between the student and Advisor (s) (s). The agreement should include learning objectives, learning, level, the assessment scheme, scope, and responsibilities in relation to the Guide. The agreement shall be approved by the Institute Board of Directors. Validation can be delegated.

Kap. 24. The educational programs section 24-1. Students who will be admitted to the studies of the 60 study points scope or more, during the first semester enter into an individual educational plan in cooperation with the responsible Department.

section 24-2. Educational plan can be revised and should be confirmed by the student each semester within the deadlines set by the study Committee.

Kap. 25. Part study by other institution § 25-1. In the mainstream study by NMBU has the student the opportunity to take a part course of study at a different University in Norway and abroad. Part study will say one or more topics that are included in the educational plan, including practice, special curricula and graduate tasks such as moderated by NMBU. Study stay must be pre-approved before departure. After the student's return to NMBU to apply for a final approval of subjects taken during the study stay.

section 25-2. NMBU should facilitate for part study abroad through to give general guidance about the cooperation agreements, financing options and insurance schemes.

Kap. 26. The approval of education taken at the other institution § 26-1. Degree, subject or topic group from another institution by rating can replace the corresponding subject or topic group by NMBU, will be credited to the student with the same number of credits with the restrictions laid down in this regulation Chapter 48. NMBU shall ensure that it not be given double value for the same subject content.

Kap. 27. Study leaves of absence section 27-1. Students who are admitted to a program of study at the NMBU can search on leave from studies for a limited period.

§ 27-2. A student who has been granted study leave are given opportunities to take the exam on NMBU during the leave time provided that the following conditions are met:-other NMBU-students are oppmeldt in the topic/topics-the student must be signed up in the topic/topics-the student must have paid the semester fee within the specified deadlines.

Students who have the leave from the NMBU do not have the right to attend classes or be entitled to a student work space by NMBU.

Kap. 28. The reduction in the credits section 28-1. Students who take the exam in topics by NMBU as professional overlap partially or completely, reduced its total credits sum for the relevant topics. The extent of the reduction be adopted of the departments at the suggestion of the subject responsible (s) Department, and will be apparent to the subject description.

Kap. 29. The transition to a different study program § 29-1. Students can search the transition to other program of study. The exception applies to the veterinarian and animal usually studies.

Kap. 30. The guest students and privatister § 30-1. The guest students that are on the NMBU according to an agreement, have the same right as mainstream students to follow the teaching and take the exam.

section 30-2. Privatistenes rights by NMBU are limited to participation in public lectures and access to go up to the exam in accordance with University and College Act.

Kap. 31. Skikkethets assessment in the teacher training section 31-1. A student who poses a possible risk for student rights, security and mental and physical health, is not fit for the teaching profession, jf. Regulation on skikkethets assessment in higher education.

section 31-2. Cases that are processed in the skikkethets to NMBUs Committee applied to the setting and sent appeals to NMBUs decision according to the rules in the University and College Act § 4-10. It shall not be issued to a student teacher as a school leaving certificate is found not fit. The student can be excluded from the teacher training for up to three years. By shorter exclusion criteria the Board can ask University that must be met before the teacher training will resume.

section 31-3. Decision on exclusion from the teacher training is sent to Samordna opptak (SO). The information will be included in a central registry. Decision on exclusion tool to educate the student about the student can not search or take place at the other teacher educations in the exclusion period.

Kap. 32. Expulsion and exclusion section 32-1. A student who, despite written warning from the University Board, repeatedly acting in a way that seems grossly disturbing for medstudenters work or for the business of the institution or, after the decision of the appeals NMBUs bortvises from specific areas of the institution for up to one year. If a student after the written warning from the University Board still does not respect such expulsion, NMBUs appeals ban him or her from the study for up to one year.

section 32-2. Decision on dispossession or exclusion requires two-thirds majority. Decision on such a response may be appealed by the student under the rules of administrative law. Ministry or complaint body appointed by this, is the appeal authority.

Assessment, the assessment arrangements and the complaint in connection with the examination Chapter. 33. The assessment schemes, parts and forms. Mandatory activities § 33-1. In line with the quality assurance system to NMBUs topics have a description of the knowledge, skills and general skills a student should have acquired by conducting the topic/topics. In each topic students will document the knowledge, skills and General expertise as it emerges from the learning benefits descriptions.

§ 33-2. The assessment form can be final try, longitudinal assessment or a combination of these, and should be disclosed in the study plan and in the subject description for the individual subject. Subject responsible Department/institutes recognize current rating scheme for each topic at the suggestion of the subject responsible teacher. In subjects with written work may require that the subject responsible is provided in a separate declaration form about plagiarism.

§ 33-3. The subject has the main responsibility for responsible to design tasks to the closing try. Final trial is held and considered after the teaching of the subject is over. Academic Affairs is responsible for organizing the final written test.

§ 33-4. If the assessment scheme contains an oral trial should this be public, unless the consideration of the implementation of the exam or test implies something else. University Board may make exceptions from the rule of public examination in each case after the wishes of the person in question exam candidate, when weighty reasons speak for it.

§ 33-5. Longitudinal assessment is an assessment of the work performed by the student. Some items in a longitudinal assessment can be evaluated during the teaching period or after the teaching of the subject is over. Study selection may adopt instructions for the implementation of the different forms of longitudinal assessment.

section 33-6. Required activities are working to be approved and performed by the student during the teaching period for a topic.

Kap. 34. The right to retake the exam section 34-1. Anyone who has paid the semester fee and is registered by NMBU semester, have fulfilled any requirements for mandatory teaching and is vurderingsmeldt (oppmeldt for exams) within the stipulated deadlines, have the right to retake the exam at NMBU.

section 34-2. Before a student can take a given exam may be set requirements that required tasks to be approved. Demands for mandatory activities/study claims to go forward by the topic description.

section 34-3. If a topic ceases or is added if a student has the right to take the exam in the same version of the topic. So the exam will be held normally at the first time of the deferred examination/new trial (konte) in the subsequent autumn-/our parallel, and not later than one year after the last regular examination in the subject.

Kap. 35. Oppmelding and sign off to graduation section 35-1. To be able to take the exam by NMBU students must be oppmeldt to the exam in the subject. Any sign off must take place within specified deadlines.

Kap. 36. Implementation of the exam-including new and deferred examination § 36-1. Exam (s) be carried out in accordance with the complementary provisions of this paragraph.

Kap. 37. Utilities by exam/test and the use of dictionary § 37-1. Subject the Institute determines which responsible/AIDS that shall be permitted during the examination. Utilities that has not been in common use among students in current events topic, and that cannot be set at the disposal of all during the examination, shall not be permitted during the examination.

§ 37-2. Remedy for the individual subject should be specified in the topic description.

§ 37-3. Students will need to bring remedy to the exam venue. This does not apply where NMBU sets at your disposal AIDS. Remedy shall be specified on the exam tasks. It is not allowed to have with other utilities than is permitted to the appropriate exam. Students are responsible for ensuring that players do not include AIDS illegal notes. Loans of remedy from a student to another during the exam are not allowed.

§ 37-4. Violation of the ease of access provisions be considered cheating.

Kap. 38. Facilitation by exam/trial section 38-1. Students with need for facilitation by the exam have to search academic affairs within the given deadlines. The need to be documented with a certificate from the medical expert witness something that documents the need for facilitated examination.

Kap. 39. the absence in connection with the examination/assessment section 39-1. Students who cannot meet due to exam disease occurring after the deadline, off hire to deliver the certificate from the medical expert witness. The certificate shall be delivered/post stamped no later than five working days after the date of the exam/review, and should contain information about the time of the absence.

§ 39-3. By documented and approved absence does not count the current exam/the assessment attempt.

Kap. 40. Cheating-cancellation of the exam/test-exclusion § 40-1. Cheating or attempted cheating can lead to that exam or try for that student will be canceled. Cheating or attempted cheating can also lead to exclusion, jf. section 4-7 and § 4-8 in University and College Act.

§ 40-2. NMBUs appeals can cancel the examination, trial or approval of the subject.

Kap. 41. Sensors and censorship section 41-1. Any evaluation should result in an appraisal expression (a character). For all of the topics covered by this forskriftens Chapter 1, there should be two sensors. Subject responsible teacher or main road leads will normally be the internal sensor.

§ 41-2. The one that assumes or is imposed a sensor missions, has a duty to comply with the provisions of the University and College law, and the provisions of this regulation.

Kap. 42. Disclosure of censorship section 42-1. The rating should be released within three weeks (15 working days) after graduation unless the Board has approved the University even a longer time limit. The rating deadline for thesis is six weeks (30 working days) from the established submission deadline unless the Board has approved the University even a longer time limit.

§ 42-2. Students are responsible to familiarize themselves with the censors.

Kap. 43. The complaint on the character or formal errors by exam/test section 43-1. A student can complain in writing of the character for their own achievement by written examination within three weeks after the exam results are announced, jf. section 5-3 in the University and College Act. By longitudinal reviews is the complaint right when the final character in the topic is announced. It can only be appealed on the ultimate nature of the topic. Evaluation of oral performance or oral/practical exam or similar which by its nature does not verify, can not be appealed. Karakterfast setting after the use of multiple choice test can not be appealed.

section 43-2. Students have the right to require justification for the character after the provisions of the University and College Act, section 5-3. Justification be given oral or written after sensors selection, and it should be accounted for the General principles that are assumed for evaluation and for the assessment of the candidate's performance.

section 43-3. A student who has been up to the examination or trial, can complain of formal errors that he or she believes is committed by task giving, exam completion of liquidation or censorship. Such a complaint must be in writing and within three weeks after he/she is or should be familiar with the conditions that justify the complaint. The complaint and sent to the stiles NMBUs appeals. The complaint Committee's secretariat to forward all complaints to the competent Department and any other devices that have been involved in the proceedings for the statement before the Tribunal treat the complaint, jf. guidelines for appeals by NMBU.

Kap. 44. Access to portray itself to the examination in the same subject multiple times § 44-1. It is allowed to portray themselves to the exam in the same topic up to three times, provided that that topic/exam exists, and that the student does not already have achieved a pass mark on the subject. If the topic/exam is passed, he/she the opportunity to portray themselves to the same exam again, but only once in each topic. This does not apply to students on veterinary and animal programmes undertaken that are not usually given the opportunity to take the exam again if it is passed.

Kap. 45. The character rule/rating section 45-1. In the topic description to implies the character rule to be used, "pass"/"fail" or letter grade.

section 45-2. The letter grades go from A-F, where A is the best pass mark and E worst pass mark, while F is given by not passing.

section 45-3. By rating the expression (the character rule) "pass"/"fail" to limit for passing is determined by the internal sensor and remote sensor in the community, and indicate that the answer has a satisfactory level of knowledge on the subject. Grade "pass" should only be given when the subject responsible and sensor agree about that, in those cases external examiner participates in judging. If one of them believes that the answer does not have a satisfactory level, "not passed".

section 45-4. All 400-topics given by NMBU to be judged with "pass"/"fail".

Thesis Chapter. 46. Thesis section 46-1. In the bachelor's degree may enter into an independent work (bachelor's task). In the master's degree of 120 and 300 study point scopes should it enter into independent work (master's thesis). In experience-based master's degree of 90 or 120 study points scopes should it enter into independent work (master's thesis). The independent work can be one of the following:-bachelor's task: 15 study point scope-master thesis: 30 study point scope-master thesis: 60 study points range.

Graduate thesis on bachelor level should show understanding, independence and be a professional specialization within subject area gradens. Responsible department determines whether a bachelor's task to be included as a mandatory part of the program.
Graduate thesis at master level should show understanding, reflection, maturity and analytical ability. The task should be a tutorial to be able to identify problems within a subject area in the study and analyze and process these in a scientific way, as well as to be able to produce a written scientific paper on this.
The scope of the graduate job in the master level is determined in the study plan for the individual program of study.
Responsible Department shall appoint the main road Manager and any additional supervisor (s) to the degree the task. The supervisors is committed to provide students with academic and methodological guidance and criticism of the work.

section 46-2. Master the task should have a public laying out and discussed at the oral exam. The exam can also contain a special curriculum. A bachelor's task can have a public laying out or a final oral discussion as part of the assessment.

section 46-3. Veterinary study has a research line with a graduate task on 90 credits and a training part of 30 credits. Closer to the rules for the implementation of the Research Board of professional nedsettes leader for veterinary and animal usually studies. Forskriftens rules for veterinary students also apply to researcher line students.

Transcript and diplomas Kap. 47. Transcript and diploma section 47-1. A student can, upon request, get the transcript of all passed exams at NMBU. Diploma and Diploma Supplement (DS) is written out when the current level is achieved.

Degrees Cap. 48. The granting of degrees section 48-1. University Board assigns ranks bachelor and master and determines within which program of study these degrees can be awarded.

section 48-2. Additional terms for degrees: Bachelor's degree For achieved bachelor's degree be specified content on the gradens professional diploma as:-Bachelor in "name of program of study" Study orientation.

-By English-language bachelor's degree program is used the term Bachelor of Science. 

Master's degree For master's degree be specified gradens achieved academic content on the diploma as:-Master in "name of program of study" Study orientation.

-By English-language master's program graduate is used the term Master of Science. 

Exceptions: 1) Master's degree of 120 study point scope: a) For candidates with 3-year bachelor's degree in economics and business administration + 2-year master in business administration: Master in business administration (Economics).

b) For candidates with 3-year bachelor's degree in plant science + 2-year master's in plant science: Master's in plant science (Sivilagronom). * c) For candidates with 3-year-old bachelor of livestock science or other relevant bachelor's degree + 2 year master in animal science: Master in animal science (Sivilagronom). * d) For candidates with 3-year-old bachelor in skogfag + 2-year master's in skogfag: Master of the skogfag (Msc). * 2) Master's degree of 300 study point scope : a) For master programs in technology: Master in technology (civil engineer)-"name of program of study".

b) For the master program in science education Lecturer (NAP): Master of Science (Lektor), [specialization with the subject group (s)].

section 48-3. Content requirements: Bachelor degree: bachelor's Degree includes passing the exam in a total of at least 180 credits. Of the 180 study points to 10 credits be linked to a common introductory topic (ex. phil.), and it should enter into a specialization of at least 80 credits that will be disclosed in the education plan. At least 15 credits should be related to one or more independent works.
In addition to these requirements can study the selection at the suggestion of teaching samples make decisions about the required credits at different levels within the subject areas, and other special rules to be awarded bachelor's degree within a program of study. 
Master's degree: Parent requirements for a master's degree stated by the Central set regulations on the requirements for the master's degree.
The professional master's degree requirements builds on and requirements for the subjects or subject groups, dental and independent work is described in the study plan, jf. rules for the study plan in section 7-1. Teaching samples can approve other documented qualifications are equal.
In a master degree of study scope 300 point to 10 credits be linked to a common introductory topic (ex. phil.).
For experience-based master's degree of 90 or 120 study points range, it shall be determined in the study plan for the individual program of study as appropriate vocational experience and any claim for longer than three years professional practice.

section 48-4. Requirements for connection etc to be issued diplomas from NMBU to be issued diplomas have to exam in the subjects corresponding to at least 60 credits be made by NMBU.

Topics of study up to a 30-point range, made by foreign university or College as part of an exchange deal with NMBU, may be included in the above 60 study points requirements. Similarly, also could be current within the appropriate subject field in which the NMBU has signed a mutual cooperation agreement with another University or University College in Norway.
The candidate must state whether any diplomas issued from other University or college.

Entry into force Chapter. 49. The final provisions § 49-1. Implementation regulations on the recording, study, exams and degrees at the Norwegian environmental and Biosciences University (NMBU) will take effect 1. August 2015.
