Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No. 497, Riga, 20 June 2006 (pr. Nr. 50.33 §) rules on the Latvian Science Council of experts the setting up and operation of the Commission Issued in accordance with the law of scientific activity article 18 Fifth i. General questions 1. Rules provide the Latvian Science Council (hereinafter Council), the Commission of experts members of the candidates ' qualification criteria for the creation of the Commission of experts, their operating principles and key tasks. 2. the members of the Commission shall be elected by direct suffrage by secret ballot. 3.5. the humanities and social sciences Commission of experts. 4. the Commission of experts and the number of members and the breakdown by sectors and sub-sectors of science shall be determined by the Council not later than two months prior to the Commission of experts on election day. 5. the term of Office of the Commission of experts shall be three years. Electoral procedure is the following: 17.1. elections are held for two days from 9.00 a.m. until 19.00 o'clock.;

The minutes and decisions of the Commission sign the Expert Commission President and the Registrar. 31. the Commission's task is to provide opinions on the Council of scientific research projects and programmes, organise, compose tīz * a list of projects submitted by the resulting average rating (the number of points in descending order) based on the qualified expert evaluation, as well as to prepare a common opinion on the inspection of the quality and relevance of the object project and program evaluation criteria. 32. the right of the Commission are: 32.1. request the Council and receive from the technical assistance needs of his Commission's work;
32.2. to give proposals on the financing of any inspection of the object in full or partial funding or refusal;
32.3. choose experts from the independent expert database according to the topics of the project;
32.4. the assessment objectively require the additional information required. 33. the Commission of experts the work the Council shall establish and maintain an independent database of experts. The database in the order of the Council shall include in their scientific names that match this rule laid down in paragraph 10 the qualification criteria. V. Commission of experts on the evaluation of project applications 34. The Expert Commission shall draw up a list of projects submitted by the average rating obtained in descending order (ranžējum) in each industry sector and recommends funding, with priority given to projects that got the most points. 39. All the members of the Commission of experts opinions shall be recorded in minutes. If members cannot agree on a specific project submission evaluation, decisions are taken by majority vote.
