Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No. 498 in Riga on July 7, 2008 (pr. No 46 4) amendment to the Cabinet of Ministers of 29 April 2003, the Regulation No 236 "Charter" of the Ministry of defence Issued in accordance with the law of public administration facilities 16(1) first subparagraph make the Cabinet of 29 April 2003, the Regulation No 236 "Charter" of the Ministry of defence (Latvian journal, 2003, no. 70, 94, 131; 2004, nr. 175; 2005; 2006, 96. No, 60 no; 2007, 108 no) and express (4) and (5) the following : "4. The Ministry shall have the following functions: 4.1 develop a national defence policy;
4.2. to organize and coordinate the national defence policy;
4.3. to organize and coordinate the implementation of the national policy, the grāfij map of Geodesy and geospatial information;
4.4. to organize and coordinate the implementation of the national policy of military education and science;
4.5. other external regulations defined functions.
5. in order to ensure the fulfilment of the functions of the Ministry performs the following tasks: 5.1 ensure national armed forces development and compliance with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's military capabilities; defined
5.2. preparing military threat analysis, develop a national defence cepcij and country kon protection plan, national mobilization of the armed forces in the host State of the FA well and support the plan;
5.3. protection will go to public in the management and the staff to send military education policy;
5.4. participates in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the European Union and other international organisations of safety and protection for the security and defence policy;
5.5. supports bilateral and multilateral cooperation between countries according to national defense policy priorities;
5.6. ensure the participation of Latvia in international security and protect conservation activities;
5.7 runs a national mobilization of the armed forces and foreign armed forces Association, which supports the necessity of going to the Cabinet of Ministers;
5.8. develop national defence technical support and supply guidelines, established the national armed forces, as well as the policy guidelines developed in conceptual documents and supply security;
5.9. create policy social security of soldiers and law order provides national armed forces personnel social guarantees;
5.10. the laws and established foreign armed forces issued permits for the importation of armaments in the Republic of Latvia or the export thereof from, lists and controls the import of arms;
5.11. the law and order in certain cases issue a permit (license) for certain types of commercial activity;
5.12. provide legislative projects, as well as the industry's methodical management and supervision in the field of Geodesy and cartography;
5.13 developing military-patriotic upbringing of youth policy framework policies;
5.14. coordinate with the scientific organizations in the field of the protection of the State;
5.15. develop guidelines to inform the public about the public behind the sardzīb and international security policy issues;
5.16. the laws and carry out other tasks. "
