The Saeima has adopted and the President promulgated the following laws: The Academy of Arts of Latvia Constitution article 1. 4 March 2003, the Latvian Academy of Arts in the constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution of the Latvian Academy of Arts with this law is approved.

Approved by the Latvian Academy of Arts the constitutional meeting 4 March 2003, the Academy of Arts of Latvia Satversme preamble Latvian Art Academy is founded de jure 20 august 1919 with the Cabinet's decision. The official opening took place on 12 October 1921. The Latvian Academy of Arts (Academy) the first Constitution was adopted in 1924 7 February the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia and proclaimed President Jānis čakste.
During the period from 1940 to 1942 the Academy has called for a National Art Academy, from 1944 to 1973 — on the Latvian State Academy of Arts, and from 1973 to 1988, of Theodore Zaļkaln State Art Academy.
With the decision of the Council of MINISTER in 1988 the Academy was restored the historic name: Latvian Academy of arts.
18 June 1992, the Constitution of the Academy (the second) was approved by the Republic of Latvia Supreme Council.
the 1999 Constitution of the Academy on 20 January, after coordination with the University Act, was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia (order No. 21).
 
I. General provisions 1. Latvian State Academy is founded the arts higher education, scientific research, innovation and cultural authority.

7. The Academy has the right to grant of professional qualifications, professional degrees, academic degrees and degrees for those students who have successfully passed the courses concerned.
8. The Academy shall have the right to independently work with foreign educational institutions, art institutions and other legal and natural persons.

28. The Rector may propose the abolition of the Senate. The Rector's abolition requires at least 50% of the votes from the Academy's constituent Assembly total votes.

36. Arbitration decisions, subject to the approval of the Senate, runs the Academy administration. The Tribunal's decisions may be appealed before the constitutional meeting.

72. The affiliate is the Department that is spatially separated from the Academy and the Academy implemented accredited study programmes. 74. for the attainment of the objectives of the Academy, the Senate may establish colleges, institutions and enterprises with independent legal person status. The Statute shall be adopted by the Senate. Colleges implemented the first level professional higher education programs and give the student the opportunity to get a fourth level of professional qualification. First level professional higher education program (hereinafter, the college program) acquire the persons who completed their secondary education. College of the programme is 2 to 3 years.
 
IV. staff of the Academy, the rights and obligations of the staff of 75. Academy: 75.1. elected academic staff;

76. 78.3. lecturers, researchers;
78.4. Assistant.
79. The academic staff shall carry out the student training and research work of art, design, art, science and cultural theory.
80. 95. The Academy's Associate Professor appointment may elect a person whose artistic innovation or scientific research results meet the Academy's Senate adopted rules for academic posts and University legal requirements.
96. Associate Professor elected by way of open competition for six years and concluded with the Academy their agreement in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.
97. the election to the post of Associate Professor WINS right to drive research and educational work in his specialty, the plastic arts, Visual design, art, science and cultural theory or academic study of art direction.
98. Assistant Professor of the Academy is recognized expert in plastic arts, Visual design, the art of science and cultural theory, who performs artistic innovation or research in your specialty.
99. the post of Assistant Professor of the Academy may elect a person whose artistic innovation or research results meet the Academy's Senate adopted rules for academic posts and legislative requirements.
100. the election to the post of Assistant Professor acquires rights to drive research and educational work in his artistic creativity (plastic arts or Visual design) or the art of science and cultural theory in the specialty.
101. The Academy Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor in the number of places under the law and according to the procedures laid down in the Constitution of the Academy determine the Senate.
102. The Academy's lecturers, assistants, leading researchers and scholars pursuing research and educational work in his artistic creativity (plastic arts or Visual design) or the art of science and cultural theory in the specialisation.
103. The General Staff Academy (the training of administrative staff, support staff, technical and business personnel) are hired and fired from work in accordance with the Academy's Constitution and existing laws.
104. the right to study in the Academy is every citizen of Latvia, as well as persons whose right to study at a University prescribed by existing laws.

Financial accounting and accounting of the funds of the Academy shall keep under the law "on accounting" and other regulatory conditions.
119. Financing of the property by natural or legal persons give individual programme and for the implementation of measures, the Academy served directly to the Department, the natural or legal person, in the exercise of the relevant programme or activity.
120. In carrying out its tasks, the Academy shall have the right in Latvia and abroad perform the following actions: 120.1. conclude agreements with natural and legal persons, as well as other legal acts in accordance with the laws and regulations and in accordance with the objectives of the Academy;
120.2. the invitation to tender, to acquire and dispose of movable and immovable property, different things according to the Constitution of the Academy operational objectives;
120.3. the Academy profile according to business, where income is included in the budget of the Academy in its development, as well as to invest the funds in other businesses obtained according to the objectives of the Academy.
121. The Academy has the right to receive tax relief under the legislation. It is exempt from customs taxes and duties, as well as from taxes on the import of materials and equipment in the laws in the cases provided for.
 
Vi. adoption and amendment of the Constitution of the Academy reorganization or liquidation 122. Constitution of the Academy may be adopted or amended by the decision of the constituent Assembly.
123. the Constitution of the Academy and the amendments shall enter into force after being approved by the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia.
124. the decision on reorganization or liquidation of the Academy shall be adopted by the Cabinet Minister of education and science, which shall be added to the proposal of the Academy reorganization or liquidation projects, as well as the opinion of the Council of higher education.
