The Saeima has adopted and the President promulgated the following laws: the movement of genetically modified organisms Act to make genetically modified organisms Act (of the Republic of Latvia Saeima and the Cabinet of Ministers rapporteur, 2008, no. 1, 2009, no 16; Latvian journal, 2009, no. 194; 2010, nr. 205.) the amendments are as follows: 1. The law aims to achieve a high level of safety in all genetically modified organisms chain, to prevent adverse effects on human and animal health or the environment, preserve biodiversity, promote sustainable development of agriculture and biotechnology, including genetically modified crops alongside organic existence and the conventional agriculture. Replace article 30, second paragraph, the words "modified organism distribution" with the words "the deliberate release of GMOs". 19. Replace article 32, the words "the State Labour Inspectorate and the State Agency of medicines" by the words "and national labour inspection". 20.
