Notice: The purpose of the decree is to reduce to one year the duration of the schooling of students recruited by title contests at the Air School. They will now be appointed to the rank of assistant lieutenant as soon as they arrive in school, and then to the rank of career lieutenant after their schooling.

On the report of the Minister of Defence,
Vu le Defence code ;
Vu le Decree No. 2008-939 of 12 September 2008 relating to officers under contract;
Vu le Decree No. 2008-943 of 12 September 2008 bearing special status of air officers, air mechanics officers and air bases officers;
Vu le Decree No. 2008-947 of 12 September 2008 establishing certain provisions applicable to military students in military schools of career cadets;
Having regard to the advice of the Supreme Council of the Military Service dated 24 June 2011;
The State Council (Section of Administration) heard,
Decrete:
I. ― The 2nd of Article 12 of Decree No. 2008-943 of 12 September 2008 referred to above is replaced by the following provisions:
« 2° Students admitted to the School of Air for the 3rd of Article 4 are enrolled in one year's school, at the rank of assistant lieutenant; "
II. ― The provisions of I apply to students admitted to open competitions after the date of publication of this Order.
The Minister of Economy and Finance, the Minister of Defence, the Minister of State Reform, Decentralization and Public Service, and the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of the budget, are responsible, each with regard to it, for the execution of this decree, which will be published in the Official Journal of the French Republic.
