In accordance with the decision of the Parliament:

ARTICLE 1 (27.11.1992/1094)

State mental hospitals are the Niuvanniemi Hospital and the Old Vaasa Hospital in the Social and Health Research Centre. The state mental institution is subject to individual examination and treatment.

ARTICLE 2

State mental hospitals can organise university education, training of health and nursing staff and other forms of training deemed necessary, and carry out development and research activities within the remit of hospitals.

ARTICLE 3 (30.4.1992)

State mental hospitals are the boards of the Ministry, whose composition and functions are laid down by decree.

§ 4

There is a separate provision for the investigation and treatment of patients in state mental institutions and their policlins.

§ 5

The functions, administration and other enforcement of this law are laid down by the Regulation.

ARTICLE 6

This Act shall enter into force on 1 January 1988.

Before the law enters into force, measures may be taken to implement it.
