1 Decree No. 208 the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of EL SALVADOR, considering: I.-that in accordance with article 131, ordinal 11 ° of the Constitution, Faculty of this legislature is to enact, in General, benefits and tax incentives or of any nature, for the promotion of cultural, scientific, agricultural, industrial, or other.
II.-that the Constitution also establishes that the family is the fundamental basis of society, the protection of the State, who is obliged to enact the necessary legislation and create the appropriate agencies for its integration, well-being and social, cultural and economic; development Therefore the law should regulate personal relationships of the spouses and their children, establishing rights and reciprocal duties on equal basis.
III.-that the parents are responsible for the strengthening of the values, principles and compliance with the rights and obligations of children within the society, and are the promoters of their affective, emotional, spiritual and holistic development; Therefore, the importance that has the recognition of the father figure throughout the history of mankind, is the active participation that has in its role within the family.
IV.-that by virtue of the foregoing, is coming to this State organ to commemorate the everyday role of parents within the family, declaring on 17 June each year, "Father's day", with paid holidays, in recognition of the effort and dedication provided to their children, in their growth and development.
Therefore, use of his constitutional powers and at the initiative of the members: Sandra Marlene Salgado García, Ana Vilma Castro de Cabrera, Juan Carlos Mendoza Portillo, Lorenzo Rivas Echeverría and Rubio Ronal Rivas Recinos.
Decree: Article 1.-declared June 17 each year, "Father's day", with paid holidays, in recognition of the effort and dedication provided to their children, in their growth and development.
Article 2.-this Decree shall enter into force eight days after its publication in the official journal.
GIVEN in the blue room of the Legislative Palace: San Salvador, twenty-eight days of the month of November in the year two thousand twelve.
