DECREE No. 311 THE LEGISLATURE OF THE REPUBLIC OF EL SALVADOR, CONSIDERING
:
I.- accordance with Article 131, ordinal 22 of the Constitution of the Republic is power to the State Authority, grant to individuals or populations, titles, honors and rewards compatible with the established form of government.
II.- Ciudad Barrios, municipality of El Salvador, from the department of San Miguel, was founded in the early years of Spanish domination, as an indigenous people called Cacahuatique, later changing its name to Ciudad Barrios, in honor former Salvadoran President Captain General Gerardo Barrios; obtaining the title of City on 21 April 1913. III.-
Ciudad Barrios, a precursor of important socio-economic events for the Salvadoran people and whose main activity is the cultivation and processing of coffee, it has been characterized by industriousness of its people, making today, constitute one of the most developed municipalities in the country.
IV.- That on the occasion of commemorating the April 21 the hundredth anniversary of obtaining their quality City, it is appropriate that this Body of State contribute to the celebration, symbolically declaring the municipality of Ciudad Barrios, department of San Miguel, "Capital of the Republic of El Salvador for a day".
THEREFORE,

Art. 1. It is declared, symbolically, "Capital of the Republic of El Salvador for a day" Ciudad Barrios, Municipality of San Miguel Department, on April 21, 2013, on the occasion of commemorating the hundredth anniversary of having obtained the quality city.
Art. 2. This Decree shall enter into force eight days after its publication in the Official Journal.
