1. Decree No. 374 the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of EL SALVADOR, considering: (I).-in accordance with article 131, paragraph 11 of the Constitution, is Faculty of this legislature enact, in General, benefits and tax incentives or of any nature, for the promotion of cultural, scientific, agricultural, industrial, or other.
II.-that the poetry, manifestation of beauty or aesthetic sense through the word, that is recognized not only as a symbol of human creativity, but it also by the transforming potential benefit of society, their habits and customs, is art through which individuals and society claim and found its identity favoring dialogue and promoting values such as respect and tolerance.
III.-that the authors of the verses of each poem, invite a literary walk that feeds the soul of his readers, giving you maximum value to the word, i.e., to the art of writing verses, allowing you to reflect on the power of language and the flourishing of human capabilities, create a world of illusion using only the words as inspiration.
IV.-that in our country, there are and have been characters with great value in the literary genre of poetry, deserving of recognition of their work and to those who must create large works Poetics, which have been identified in certain moments, our culture, social reality and national identity.
V-one of the poets that has internationally been considered as a symbol of the Salvadoran poetry and was born on May 14, is Roque Dalton, who with an outstanding and renowned, has been one of the Salvadoran with more works published writers, and dedicated his whole life to the development of the letters of our nation, which earned him to be declared "poet he of El Salvador", in 2007.
VI.-that under the foregoing and in order to boost the poetic art, is coming to declare on May 14 of each year, date of birth of Roque Dalton, icon and symbol of the Salvadoran poetry, "Day national of poetry", in recognition of the value of this literary genre, as the highest expression of the language and symbol of human creativity.
Therefore, use of his constitutional powers and at the initiative of the deputies and deputies: Othon Sigfrido Reyes Morales, Francisco Roberto Lorenzana Durán, Lorena Guadalupe Peña Mendoza, Irma Lourdes Palacios Vásquez, Yohalmo Edmundo Cabrera Chacón, Raúl Ómar Cuéllar, Nery Arely Díaz de Rivera, Antonio 2 Echeverría Veliz, Norma Fidelia Guevara de Ramirios, Rodolfo Antonio Martínez, Ismael Recinos López and Jaime Gilberto Valdez Hernández.
DECREES: Article 1.-declared on 14 May of every year, "national day of poetry", in recognition of the value of this literary genre, as the highest expression of the language and symbol of human creativity.
Article 2.-this Decree shall enter into force eight days after its publication in the official journal.
