1 Decree No. 596 the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of EL SALVADOR, considering: I.-that the article 61 of the Constitution of the Republic, provides that higher education shall be governed by a special law and conditions that a social service should be paid.
II.-that article 67 of the Constitution establishes that public health services are essentially technical and health, hospitals, paramedical and hospital management careers are established.
III. Article 2 of the law on higher education, approved by Legislative Decree No. 468 of 14 October of 2004, published in the Official Journal No. 216, volume # 365 dated 19 November 2004, defines as one of its objectives, the shaping of competent professionals with a strong vocation for service and sound ethical principles; and article 5 of the same law defines academic degrees, which include Doctor's.
IV.-that article 13 of the same law, defines that to obtain the degree of Doctor of medicine, which does not require previously other academic degrees, the sum of value units that the candidate for the degree of Doctor should win, it may not be less than two hundred and twenty-four valuation units, with a curriculum of one duration of not less than seven years.

2 DECREES the following: reform to the law of education SUPERIOR article 1.-reforming the paragraph third from article 13 of the law on higher education, approved by Legislative Decree No. 468 of 14 October of 2004, published in Official Journal No. 216, volume # 365 dated 19 November 2004 in the following way : "Notwithstanding the preceding subparagraphs, you can access the degree of Doctor of medicine and Doctor of dentistry without having previously obtained other degrees; but in any case, the sum of value units, the candidate for the degree of Doctor should win, may not be less than two hundred and twenty-four valuation units, with a curriculum of one duration of not less than seven years, and have met, in the case of the doctorate in medicine, without exception, a year of rotating internship in El Salvador and a hospital school essential for their training, and their corresponding social year."
Article 2.-this Decree shall enter into force eight days after its publication in the official journal.
