1 Decree N ° 125 the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of EL SALVADOR, considering: I.-that in accordance with article 131, paragraph 11 ° of the Constitution, is Faculty of this Decree Legislative Assembly, generally, benefits and tax incentives or of any nature, for the promotion of cultural, scientific, agricultural, industrial or otherwise.
II. that by a resolution of the Organization of the United Nations (UN), based on a recommendation of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), was established in the year 2005 the "International Maritime Day", which should mark the last Thursday of the month of September each year, to highlight the challenges and the importance of maritime issues in the management of the world economy.
III.-the "International Maritime Day" held in many countries of the world, to highlight the importance of the safety and efficiency of international maritime operations, and prevent pollution caused by ships and discharges of toxic and hazardous substances at sea.
IV.-that the maritime port authority, created in 2002 by the port General maritime law, regulates maritime navigation services, sailing for the safety of these services and the operational safety of the Salvadoran ports, safeguarding human life at sea and fosters the development of maritime and port activities in El Salvador.
V.-that the Declaration in El Salvador "Maritime day", will allow future generations reflect on the importance and significance of oceans-related activities; and it would be a tangible demonstration of the importance given in El Salvador to the safety of maritime navigation and the preservation of the oceans.
VI.-that under the foregoing and in line by the ruling by the United Nations and the activities that develops the State of El Salvador through the sea port authority, is from declaring the last Thursday of the month of September each year "maritime day of El Salvador".
Therefore, use of his constitutional powers and at the initiative of the Deputy Santiago Flores Alfaro.
2 DECREES: Article 1.-declared the last Thursday of the month of September each year, "Maritime day of El Salvador", in recognition of the importance of ensuring the safety of maritime navigation, safeguarding human life at sea and prevent the pollution of the oceans.
Article 2.-this Decree shall enter into force eight days after its publication in the official journal.
