1 DECREE No. 197

THE LEGISLATURE OF REPUBLIC OF EL SALVADOR, CONSIDERING
:
I.- on July 17, 1998, was adopted in Rome, Italy, the Statute Rome of the International Criminal Court.
II in June 2010 were adopted in Kampala, Uganda, amendments to the Rome Statute: 1) In Art 8 and 2) on the Crime of Aggression..
III to the instruments referred to above Recitals have been approved by Executive Decision No. 713/2014, of 19 May 2014,
and under consideration by the Legislature for ratification .
IV.- That ratification of the Rome Statute and its Amendments
is consistent with the international commitments made by the country in the multilateral and regional levels, in particular the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, Genocide Convention of December 9, 1948, and the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their Additional Protocols
, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the American Convention on Human Rights, among others.
V. That the ratification of the Statute affirms the will of the country with respect to the most serious crimes of concern to the international community as a
whole must not go unpunished and the perpetrators must be brought effectively to course of justice, outlawing impunity.
VI.- That the statute and amendments do not contain any provision contrary to the Constitution, being from ratification.
THEREFORE,
in use of the power provided for in Art. 131, Ordinal 7 of the Constitution regarding
Art. 168, 4th Ordinal of it, and the initiative of the then President of the Republic 2009-2014 period, Carlos Mauricio Funes Cartagena through the Minister of Foreign Affairs. DECREES
:
Art. 1. is ratified in all parts of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court,
adopted in Rome, Italy, on July 17, 1998, which consists of a preamble and 128 articles and amendments to the Rome Statute .: 1) in Art 8 and 2) on the Crime of Aggression; adopted in Kampala, Uganda in June 2010; approved in its entirety by the Executive Branch, through No. 713/2014 Agreement of 19 May 2014

Art. 2. This Decree shall enter into force eight days after its publication in the Official Journal.
