DECREE NO 651
THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF EL SALVADOR,
CONSIDERING:
I.-That in accordance with Article 131, Ordinary 22 °, of the Constitution of the Republic, is
power of this State Authority, grant to persons or populations, titles, distinctions
honors and gratifications, compatible with the form of government established, for relevant services provided to the Homeland.
II.-Article 6, literal c) of the Law of Honorific Distances, Titles,
states that the honorable and Distinguished or Distinguished distinctions, in their order of
relevance, may be granted to Salvadoran or resident foreign persons, when the services or contributions that have been made provided to the Homeland, are related to dissemination and
harnessing science, art, culture, education and sport or any other form of altruistic or collective service; in such a way that it represents an undeniable benefit
for the Salvadoran State or its inhabitants.
III.-That the citizen Oscar Gilberto Canjura Zelaya, from his 18 years dedicated himself to the practice
competitive of the sport of "Boxing", retaking the pugilism and the sports values as something primordial in his life, achieving to obtain distinction and international recognition, primarily
through the World Boxing Organization, in which he plays a role within the Executive Committee, being the first time a Salvadoran has such an honor.
IV.-That this noted athlete on January 29, 2013, was appointed to the Executive Committee of the World Boxing Organization and Executive member of O.M.B. Latino,
becoming one of the top national authorities governing professional boxing worldwide, which has given him the opportunity to represent and put on high
the name of El Salvador.
V.-That by virtue of the merits mentioned above, it is appropriate to grant the honorable distinction of
"Distinguished Sportsman of El Salvador", to the citizen Oscar Gilberto Canjura Zelaya, in recognition of his outstanding career as an athlete and leader of the sport of Boxing of El
Salvador.
FOR TANTO,
in use of its Constitutional powers and at the initiative of the Diputadas Norma Cristina Cornejo
Amaya, Estela Yanet Hernández Rodríguez, and the Deputy Jaime Orlando Sandoval.
DECCRETA:
Art. 1.-Oscar Gilberto Canjura Zelaya, "Distinguished Sportsman of El
Salvador", in recognition of his outstanding career as an athlete and leader of the Boxing sport of El Salvador.
Art. 2. This Decree shall enter into force eight days after its publication in the Official Journal.
