On 1 May 2004. September 1978 in Lagos was signed the cultural agreement between the Government of the

CULTURAL AGREEMENT

The Nigerian Federal Republic (hereinafter referred to as "the Contracting Parties"),



Desiring to strengthen the existing friendly relations and understanding between the two

countries, and to promote and develop cooperation in the field of culture, education,

Science, health and technology,



have agreed as follows:



Article. (I)



The Contracting Parties shall develop cooperation in the fields of science, education,

culture, the arts, health care, education, the media,

Tourism, physical education and sport.



Article II



The Contracting Parties shall promote cooperation in the fields of education, science,

Article. (III)

Article. In



Each Contracting Party shall examine the ways and conditions, on the basis of

The Contracting Parties shall encourage mutual meeting of their peoples with the

the culture of the other party by organising exchange programmes for your music

and theatre groups, artists, actors, musicians, writers and journalists and the

organizing of concerts, art exhibitions and lectures in their respective countries.



Article. (VII)



1. For the purposes of mutual understanding and awareness of the culture and

civilization will be the Contracting Parties to organize the exchange of books, periodicals,

Scientific and technical publications, magazines, newspapers, photographs, films and

recordings, as well as statistical information on the General

2. For the same purpose, referred to in the preceding paragraph, a Contracting

and other cultural facilities, and also the exchange of information on materials

relating to the ancient relics, natural history and art.



Article. (VIII)



The Contracting Parties shall invite a representative of the other party to participate

at congresses, conferences, seminars with international participation held in

their countries.



Article. (IX)



The Contracting Parties shall promote the cooperation of your radio,

television, film and print organizations and their leaders.

For this purpose, will exchange shows, movies, and other information

materials contributing to the mutual understanding of the people of both countries and

organize exchanges of experts on events organized by the other party.



Article. X



Considering the great importance of tourism for the knowledge of the life, art and

the culture of their peoples, the parties will encourage the Exchange and dissemination of

the tourist literature and the organisation of tourism.



Article. XI



The Contracting Parties shall promote cooperation between sports

organizations of the two countries in the interest of the development of sport and also with a view to

pursue a friendly sports competition between the two countries.



Article. XII



For the implementation of this agreement, both parties will jointly develop

detailed plans of the specific actions on a specific time period. These plans

Article. XIII



The Contracting Parties shall make every effort through diplomatic channels to try to settle the

any disputes relating to the interpretation or implementation of this agreement.



Article. XIV



The person in connection with the implementation of this Agreement shall be governed by the

laws and regulations of the host country.



Article. XV



This agreement shall enter into force on the date of signature and shall remain in force for four

for years. Then it will be automatically extended in force on two

years, unless one of the Contracting Parties denounces it in writing six months

notice period.



Given in Lagos on 1 May 2004. September 1978 in two original copies in the language

Czech and English, both texts being equally authentic.
