FLAVIO BRAVO PARDO , President of the National Assembly of the People's Power of the Republic of Cuba,

AS REGARDS : In the municipality of Santiago de Cuba the number of constituencies reaches the maximum number allowed by the Law, and the excessive number of voters in many of them already makes the work of the delegates difficult without the creation of new constituencies.

AS REGARDS This growth of the population affects the increase in economic and social activities and influences the workload that members of the executive committees of the municipal assemblies of the People's Power must assume.

AS FOR: The Executive Committee of the Special Municipality Island of Youth develops its work in particular conditions and with a certain level of complexity, by linking directly to the central organs and agencies of the State, functioning in this appearance as the provinces do.

AS REGARDS : Law No. 37 of 15 August 1982-Electoral Law-establishes in Articles 47 and 107 the maximum number of electoral constituencies each municipality must have and the number of members of the executive committees of the assemblies. municipal of the People's Power, respectively.

AS FOR: It is necessary to amend the Electoral Law, in order to adapt some of the norms that it establishes to the demands currently expressed in Santiago de Cuba and in the future in other municipalities for the growth of its population, the increase of its economic and social activities or the special characteristics presented by the Special Municipality of the Isle of Youth.

BY TANT: The National Assembly of People's Power in use of the powers conferred upon them agrees:
