DECREE NO. 3,760, OF 1º MARCH OF 2001

Disposes on the execution of the Thirtieth Second Protocol to the Economic Supplementation Agreement No. 2 (Automotive Vehicles), among the Governments of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, of October 31, 2000.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC, in the use of the assignment that confers it on art. 84, inciso IV, of the Constitution,

Considering that the Treaty of Montevideo of 1980, which created the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI), signed by Brazil on August 12, 1980 and approved by the National Congress, by the Legislative Decree No. 66 of November 16, 1981, provides for the modality of Economic Supplementation Agreement;

Whereas the Plenipotentiaries of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Eastern Republic of the Uruguay, on the basis of the Treaty of Montevideo of 1980, signed, on December 20, 1982, in Montevideo, the Economic Supplementation Agreement No. 2, between the Governments of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, which was incorporated into the Brazilian legal planning by means of the Decree No. 88,419 of June 20, 1983;

Whereas the Plenipotentiaries of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, on the basis of the Treaty of Montevideo of 1980, signed, on October 31, 2000, in Montevideo, the Thirtieth Second Protocol to the Economic Supplementation Agreement No. 2 (Automotive Vehicles), between the Governments of the Federative Republic of Brazil and of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay;

D E C R E T A:

Art. 1º It gets promulgated for all effects the Thirtieth Second Protocol Additional to the Economic Supplementation Agreement No. 2 (Automotive Vehicles), between the Governments of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, apensed by copy to the present Decree.

Art. 2º This Decree takes effect on the date of its publication.

ECONOMIC SUPPLEMENTATION AGREEMENT NO. 2

CELEBRATED BETWEEN THE FEDERATIVE REPUBLIC

FROM BRASIL

AND THE EASTERN REPUBLIC OF URUGUAY

THIRTY-SECOND ADDITIONAL PROTOCOL

The Plenipotentiaries of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, accredited by their respective Governments second powers that have been bestowed in good and due form, deposited opportunistically at the General Secretariat of the Latin American Integration Association,

DECK IN

Article 1º. The Federative Republic of Brazil Outorga to the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, for the period from 1º to November 2000 and November 30, 2000, a quota of one thousand and eighty four units of automotive vehicles, ranked in the positions NALADISA 87.02, 87.03 and 87.04, for any category.

Article 2º. The Eastern Republic of Uruguay bestows to the Federative Republic of Brazil, for the period from 1º to November 2000 and November 30, 2000, a quota of three hundred and thirty-four units of automotive vehicles, classified in the positions NALADISA 87.03 and 87.04, for units up to 4,000 kg of total gross weight.

Article 3º. The units of automotive vehicles listed in the quotas bestowed by the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay on the Twenty-First, Twentieth, Twenty-First, Thirteenth and Thirtieth First Additional Protocols, which have not been used in the period 1º from January 2000 a to October 31, 2000, may be availed in the period from 1º to November 2000 a to November 30, 2000, without prejudice to the quotas set out in Articles 1º and 2º of the present Protocol.

Article 4º. Set as a source standard 60/40% for the models in production and 55/45% for the new models.

Article 5º. The percentage of regional origin pieces applicable to the models in production, under Article 4º of the Tenth-Seventh Protocol Additional to ACE No. 2, will be 25%.

Article 6º. This Protocol shall apply from 1º November 2000 to November 30, 2000.

The General Secretariat of the Latin American Integration Association shall be a depositary of this Protocol, of which will send duly authenticated copies to the signatory Governments.

IN FÉ THAN, THE RESPECTIVE PLENIPOTENTIARIES subscribed to this Protocol in the city of Montevideo, at the thirty-one days of the month of October two thousand, in an original in the Spanish and Portuguese languages, being both texts being equally valid.
