DECREE OF June 5, 2001

Institutes the Committee of the Basin River Basin of the San Francisco River, located in the states of Minas Gerais, Goiás, Bahia, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe and in the Federal District, and gives other arrangements.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC, in the use of the assignment that confers him the art. 84, incisus IV, of the Constitution, and with a view to the provisions of Law No. 9,433 of January 8, 1997 and in Law No. 9,984 of July 17, 2000,

DECRETA:

Art. 1º It is established the Committee of the River Basin of the São Francisco River, collegiate body, with normative, deliberative and consultative assignments, within the framework of the respective watershed, linked to the National Council for Water Resources? CNRH, pursuant to the Resolution of the CNRH No. 5, of April 10, 2000.

Single paragraph. The acting area of the Basin Committee of the São Francisco River Basin, Union domain river, located in the states of Minas Gerais, Goiás, Bahia, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe and in the Federal District, is defined by the geographical boundaries of the basin hydrographic of the São Francisco River, bordered by the drainage area with its mouth, located, in scale 1:1.000.000, at coordinates 36 ° 24 'longitude west and 10 ° 30' latitude south.

Art. 2º The River Basin Committee of the River Basin San Francisco will be composed of representatives:

I? of the Union;

II? of the States of Minas Gerais, Goiás, Bahia, Pernambuco, Alagoas and Sergipe;

III? of the Federal District;

IV? of the Municipalities located, in whole or in part, in that basin;

V? of the users of the waters of their area of acting; and

VI? of the civilian entities of water resources with proven acting in that basin.

§ 1º The number of representatives, holders and alternates, of each sector mentioned in this article, as well as the criteria for their choice and indication, will be established in the Rules of Procedure of the Committee.

§ 2º The process of choosing the members of the Committee will be public, with ample and prior disclosure.

Art. 3º The functioning of the Committee of the Basin Hydrographic of the San Francisco River will be governed by its Rules of Procedure, in accordance with the precepts of Law No. 9,433, of 1997, and of the Resolution of the CNRH No. 5, of 2000.

Single paragraph. The Rules of Procedure of the Committee will be approved by its members and published in the Official Journal of the Union.

Art. 4º The Committee's meetings will be public, being its widely publicized convocation.

Art. 5º This Decree takes effect on the date of its publication.
