According to other communications from the Swiss Confederation, the following states have made statements to the Convention as amended:
China 1 :
The Convention, as amended, shall apply to the Macao Special Administrative Region with effect from 20 December 1999.
Denmark 2 :
In response to the question of the extent of the territorial applicability of the Convention to the Faroe Islands, Denmark wishes to recall its declaration on the occasion of its ratification of the Convention on 26 July 1977. Denmark would like to clarify the purpose and purpose of this declaration: until further notice, the Convention does not apply to the Faroe Islands. This is the position of the Danish Government since the ratification of the Convention by Denmark, and this will remain Denmark's position until further notice.
Iceland:
Iceland considers the registration of certain species in the annexes to the Convention as contrary to Article II of the Convention and to the biological criteria which have been agreed for registration under CITES. A number of whales listed in the annexes are a good example of this.
By acceding to the Convention, Iceland has decided not to make any reservations concerning the species present on the territory under its jurisdiction and, in its opinion, are wrongly included in the annexes. This should not, however, be interpreted as the assumption by Iceland of the appropriateness of all other entries contained in the annexes.
If new scientific evidence shows that species for which Iceland has lodged reservations are actually legitimately registered in the annexes, Iceland will reassess the reservations affected.
Iceland considers it important for CITES to achieve its goal of performing an efficient and clear review of all current entries in the annexes as soon as possible. The review should be objective and shall ensure that all entries in the annexes are in accordance with Article II of the Convention and the biological criteria agreed under CITES.
Netherlands 3 :
5. The Kingdom of the Netherlands has informed the Swiss Confederation of an amendment to the internal constitutional structure of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in October 2010. As a result, the following applications are applicable to CITES: for the European part with effect from 18 July 1984 (amendment of 22 June 1979 with effect from 13 April 1987), for the Caribbean part (the islands of Bonaire, Sint Eustasius and Saba), with Efficacy of 10. October 2010, for Aruba with effect from 29 March 1995, for Curaçao and Sint Maarten with effect from 10. October 2010. CITES was also found for the period from 6 July 1999 to 9. October 2010 Application to the former Netherlands Antilles.
