INFORMATION BASICA REQUERIDA
FOR THE AUTHORIZATION

NATIONALS OUT OF THE
1. Type of Activity to Develop
Combined Specific Exercise for Control of Unidentified Interfrontier Air Traffic and Interdiction Practice of Irregular Air Transits called "PLATA V".
2. Origin of the Project
The PLATA exercise is within the framework of the "Cooperation Agreement between the governments of the FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF BRAZIL and the ARGENTINA REPUBLIC for the control of the transit of aircraft allegedly engaged in international illicit activities", signed between the MINISTERIES OF DEFENSA of the FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF BRAZIL and the ARGENTIN REPUBLIC, December 9, 2002.
3. Principles of the Objectives of Activity:
a. Politicians: to realize the objectives of the agreement signed between the ARGENTINA REPUBLIC and the FEDERAL REPUBLIC BRAZIL and strengthen the Mutual Confidence Measures and the bonds of friendship between the participating countries.
b. Strategic: Joint efforts to discourage the transit of unidentified irregular aircraft carrying out transnational flights, deferring or manoeuvring in the respective national airspaces, including information exchange, technical or operational training and human resource exchange.
c. Operatives: Expedite the procedures for the transfer of information between the controls on the airspace of the participating countries.
d. Combined training: Train in a combined manner the personnel who plan and execute the different air operations to achieve interoperability between the participating Air Forces.
e. Combined Operations: Increase the ability to operate in a combined manner, through the procedures in force and their updates, intensifying the exchange of information and experiences related to the control of irregular aircraft flying over border airspaces.
4. Activity configuration:
(a) Place of realization: South-West Frontier of the FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF BRAZIL. Northeast of the ARGENTINA REPUBLIC.
(b) Dates of Egress / Income, Duration of Activity: From June 4, 2007, having the activity a maximum extension of SIETE (7) days.
(c) Participating countries:
n ARGENTINA REPUBLIC
n FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF BRAZIL

n REPUBLIC OF PARAGUAY
n ORIENTAL REPUBLIC OF URUGUAY
(d) Deployment of the Troops and Media: ARGENTINA FORCE will participate in this exercise with NUEVE (9) PA-34 S/AC 500 U / IA 58 / A4-AR aircraft and up to a maximum of VEINTE (20) participants leaving our country to the FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF BRAZIL (traditional exchange of crew members).
The BRAZILIAN AEREA FORCE will deploy the following material to the ARGENTINA REPUBLIC: THREE (3) planes, and up to a maximum of VEINTE (20) participants (exchange of crew members).
(e) Immunity: No specific immunities have been required for Foreign Troops entering the country, or for National Forces departing from it.
(f) Costs: The operating costs of our means amount to the sum of PESOS DOSCIENTOS DIEZ MIL ($ 210.000).
(g) Financing: The costs will be covered with budget funds from the ARGENTINA FORCE.
5. Framework
Interceptions will be made to simulated irregular air traffics from border countries, and exchange of information between the Air Space Control Centres of each country.
