Ring
The ring shall be a square and not less than 18 feet nor more than 24 feet on a side within the ropes. The ring floor must extend beyond the ropes at least 24 inches on all sides. The ring floor shall be of at least 3/4 inch material and shall be adequately supported and padded with a fine closed cell foam with two pound density, one inch thick with a compression factor of 25 percent which will yield six pounds density. Any variance to this must be approved in writing by the Director. The padding shall extend over the edge of the ring platform with a top covering of canvas, duck or similar material approved by the Director, tightly stretched and laced to the ring platform. Material that tends to gather in lumps may not be used. The mat and coverings shall be kept clean and free from disagreeable odors at all times. The promoter shall be responsible for sanitizing the ring mat immediately after each show. The mat, ropes and turnbuckle pads shall be cleaned and disinfected by damp mopping or wiping, using a solution of two ounces of AirKem A-33 to one gallon of water and either mopping, wiping or spraying with the same solution a second time, after which mat shall be allowed to dry before using. The corners must be protected inside the ring with urethane pad at least six inches wide and covered with material similar to the ring floor material long enough to cover all the rope joints. The urethane shall have a three pound density. Ring posts shall be made of some material, preferably steel, at least three inches in diameter, extending from the floor of the building to a height of at least 58 inches above the ring floor. This section does not apply to wrestling rings.

Height of Ring
The ring platform shall not be more than 54 inches above the floor of the building, and shall be provided with at least three sets of steps into the ring during a contest. One set for each boxer's corner and one set in the neutral corner on the Commission side.

Ring Ropes
Ring ropes shall be at least four in number, not less than one inch in diameter; the lower rope 18 inches above the ring floor, the top rope 52 inches above the ring floor, and the two other ropes will be evenly spaced. The ropes shall be reinforced by a nonabrasive rope on each side in the center of the ropes. The ropes shall attach to the ring ropes with turnbuckles. The ropes shall be taut and firm during all contests. The lower rope shall have applied around it a padding of a thickness of not less than one-half inch and of a type and construction to be approved by the Director. The lower rope shall be offset at least 6" (six inches) and not more than 12" (twelve inches) toward the ring apron.

Ring Apron and Safety Zone
Ring apron shall be kept clear at all times. No seats may be sold at the ring apron. There shall be at least a six foot safety zone between the ringside and the first row seats.

Ringside Physicians
Ringside physicians shall have an unobstructed view of the ring at all times.

The judges and ringside physician shall be furnished chairs by the promoter which allow them maximum visibility of the contestants.

Gong or Bell
There shall be a bell or gong at the ring no higher than the floor level of the ring. The bell or gong shall be of a clear tone so that the contestants may easily hear it. The promoter shall provide timekeepers with standard timekeeper's equipment and shall obtain approval of such equipment from the Director no later than 72 hours prior to the commencement of the event.

Ring Equipment and Hygiene
The promoter shall furnish two funnels with a hose and bucket attached to each funnel. The promoter shall provide a sufficient number of water buckets. Each bucket shall be sterilized before being used. Promoters also shall provide resin, stools, and other such articles as are required for the conduct of contests. There shall be in each corner a red plastic-capped bottle containing a solution of one part Clorox to ten parts of water. Seconds or the referee must, at the first opportunity after any skin contact with blood, rinse the affected area in this solution and at least after each match wash their hands in this solution regardless of whether contaminated with blood or not. The chief second must supply a clean towel for each match which may be either cloth or paper towels. Excess use of water by a corner on a fighter will result in one warning by an assigned official or the referee, and violation after that will result in disciplinary action against the chief second. The ring surface will be kept clean, dry and free from objects. The ring must be set up at least two hours prior to fight time, regardless of TV or any other commitments.

Gloves
In all bouts, the gloves must have attached or restricted thumbs. Gloves shall be examined by the chief inspector and the referee. If padding is found to be misplaced or lumpy, or if gloves are found to be imperfect or clearly ill-fitting, they shall be changed before the contest starts. No breaking, skinning, roughing or twisting of gloves shall be permitted:
(1) Gloves - Main Event. Gloves for all main events shall be new, furnished by club management, and so made as to fit the hands of any contestant whose hands may be unusual in size. Boxers must don main event gloves in the ring.
(2) Gloves - Preliminaries. If gloves used in preliminary bouts have been used before, they shall be whole, clean, dry and in sanitary condition and subject to inspection by the referee and chief inspector. Any such gloves found to be unfit shall be immediately discarded and replaced with gloves meeting the above requirements.
(3) Gloves - Extra Set. All clubs shall have on hand an extra set of eight-ounce and an extra set of ten-ounce gloves to be used in case gloves are broken or in any way damaged during the course of a bout.
(4) Gloves - Weight. Contestants in all weights up to and including 154 pounds, shall wear eight-ounce gloves. In weights 155 pounds and over, ten-ounce gloves may be worn only in the event a boxer's hands will not fit into eight-ounce gloves. The Director must approve of the use of ten-ounce gloves and both boxers must agree. All gloves must be approved by the Director.

Bandages
Contestants may use six inches of medical diachylon tape, one inch in width across the back of each hand before bandaging the hands. Such tape can not be put across the knuckles. Bandages shall be of soft surgical gauze not more than ten yards long and two inches in width, held in place by not more than six feet of one inch medical diachylon tape for each hand. These bandages shall be applied in the dressing room no sooner than 45 minutes before fight time under the examination of an inspector and in the presence of a representative of both contestants. Either contestant may waive the privilege of witnessing the bandaging of the opponent's hands. Hands shall be wrapped dry, and no liquid may be applied to any bandage. If any other material or substance is used on the hands of the boxer other than that mentioned in this paragraph, the boxer and manager shall face disciplinary action by the Superintendent. Only the above-described tape and gauze will be allowed.
