The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 17(2) and (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with section 134(2) of that Act(2), hereby makes the following Regulations:–

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the M4 Motorway (Hillingdon and Hounslow) (Speed Limits) (Amendment) Regulations 1999 and shall come into force on 8th March 1999.

Amendment to Part II of the Schedule to the M4 Motorway (Hillingdon and Hounslow) (Speed Limits) Regulations 1998

2.  In Part II of the Schedule to The M4 Motorway (Hillingdon and Hounslow) (Speed Limits) Regulations 1998(3), after paragraph 6 there shall be inserted the following paragraph–

“6A.  The entire length of the Junction 2 westbound access slip road, a distance of approximately 436 metres.”

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations amend the M4 Motorway (Hillingdon and Hounslow) (Speed Limits) Regulations 1998 so that the 40 mph speed limit imposed by those Regulations on the westbound exit road and the eastbound access and exit roads at Junction 2 is extended to the westbound access road at that junction.
