The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon her by section 6(5)(b) of the Public Processions (Northern Ireland) Act 1998(1) hereby makes the following Order:—

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Public Processions (Northern Ireland) Act 1998 (Notice of Processions) (Exceptions) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 1st May 1998.

Revocation

2.  The Public Order (Exceptions) Order (Northern Ireland) 1998(2), which was made by the Secretary of State on 24th February 1998, is hereby revoked.

Advance notice of public processions

3.  Section 6 of the Public Processions (Northern Ireland) Act 1998 (advance notice of public processions) does not apply to any public procession to be organised by the Salvation Army along a route customarily followed by them.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order provides that the requirement in section 6 of the Public Processions (Northern Ireland) Act 1998 to give advance notice of a public procession does not apply to any public procession to be organised by the Salvation Army along a route customarily followed by them.
The Order also revokes the Public Order (Exceptions) Order (Northern Ireland) 1998 (S.I. 1998/583) which was made by the Secretary of State on 24th February 1998.
