The Department of Health and Social Services, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 13(3) and (4) of the Social Security (Northern Ireland) Order 1988(1) and section 171(2) to (5) of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits (Northern Ireland) Act 1992(2) and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Welfare Foods (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1997 and shall come into operation on 24th November 1997.

Amendment of the Welfare Foods Regulations

2.—(1) The Welfare Foods Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1988(3) shall be amended in accordance with paragraph (2).

(2) In regulation 3(2) (additional milk or dried milk for children in day care) after sub-paragraph (b) the following sub-paragraph shall be inserted—

“(c)a person who receives a child into a nursery school under the management of or assisted by the local Education and Library Board.”

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations.)
These Regulations further amend the Welfare Foods Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1988 to enable local Education and Library Board controlled premises to participate in the Welfare Milk Scheme.
