The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 11 of the Consumer Protection Act 1987(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation in accordance with section 11(5) of that Act with such organisations as appear to him to be representative of interests substantially affected by the following Regulations, and the Health and Safety Commission in relation to the application of the following Regulations to Great Britain, hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicle Tyres (Safety) (Amendment) Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 14th April 1997.

2.—(1) Regulation 1 of the Motor Vehicle Tyres (Safety) Regulations 1994(2) shall be amended as follows.

(2) In paragraph (3) for “1st June 1997” there shall be substituted “1st January 1998”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations amend the Motor Vehicle Tyres (Safety) Regulations 1994 by postponing the coming into force of regulation 5 (marking requirements in relation to the supply of new motor cycle tyres) from 1st June 1997 to 1st January 1998.
