The Department of Health and Social Services for Northern Ireland, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by paragraph 2 of Schedule 8 to the Social Security Contributions and Benefits (Northern Ireland) Act 1992(1) and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, and with the consent of the Department of Finance and Personnel, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation, commencement and interpretation
1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Workmen’s Compensation (Supplementation) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1997 and shall come into operation on 7th April 1997.
(2) The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954(2) shall apply to these Regulations as it applies to a Measure of the Assembly.
Amendment of the Workmen’s Compensation (Supplementation) Regulations
2. For regulation 15 of the Workmen’s Compensation (Supplementation) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1983(3) (sums not payable when delay in claiming) there shall be substituted the following regulation—
“15. An allowance shall not be payable to any person in respect of any period more than 3 months before the claim for the allowance is made.”.

Explanatory Note
(This note is not part of the Regulations.)
These Regulations amend the Workmen’s Compensation (Supplementation) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1983 by limiting to 3 months the period of backdating for an allowance.
