Temporary Speed Limit (Magheramason) (No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996

Coming into operation
21st February 1997

WHEREAS the Temporary Speed Limit (Magheramason) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996(1) prohibits the driving of motor vehicles at a speed greater than 30 miles per hour on Victoria Road, Route A5(T3), Magheramason, Londonderry, from a point approximately 100 metres south-west of its junction with Meenagh Road, Unclassified No. 1809, to a point approximately 85 metres north-east of its junction with Clampernow Road, Unclassified No. 1157, for a period of 4 months from 20th October 1996;
AND WHEREAS the Department of the Environment is satisfied that it is desirable in the interests of safety to continue to restrict the speed of motor vehicles on that part of Victoria Road, Route A5(T3), Magheramason, Londonderry;

NOW THEREFORE the Department, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 51(4) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(2) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Temporary Speed Limit (Magheramason) (No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996 and shall come into operation on 21st February 1997.

Continuance in force of provisions of S.R. 1996 No. 406

2.  The provisions of Article 2 of the Temporary Speed Limit (Magheramason) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996 are hereby continued in force for a period of 4 months from 20th February 1997.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order.)
This Order continues in force the provisions of the Temporary Speed Limit (Magheramason) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996 (S.R. 1996 No. 406). It prohibits in the interests of safety for a further period of 4 months commencing on 21st February 1997 the driving of motor vehicles at a speed greater than 30 miles per hour on Victoria Road, Route A5(T3), Magheramason, Londonderry, from a point approximately 100 metres south-west of its junction with Meenagh Road, Unclassifie on the standard scale (£1,000).
Traffic signs indicating the effect of the Order have bed No. 1809, to a point approximately 85 metres north-east of its junction with Clampernow Road, Unclassified No. 1157.
Any person who acts in contravention of the Order shall be guilty of an offence under the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 and shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 3en erected on the road.
