CHAPTER 55
JUSTICES OF THE PEACE (VALIDATION) Act to validate acts performed by persons not
validity constituted ex officio justices of the peace. [Assent 30th June, 1992]
[Commencement 26th January, 1984] 1. This Act may be cited as the Justices of the Peace
(Validation) Act, 1992. 2. Any act performed since the 26th January, 1984
under section 7 of the Magistrates Act by a member of the House of Assembly or the Managing Director of The Bahamas Mortgage Corporation in the purported exercise of the powers of an ex officio justice of the peace and which would be valid were that member or Director validly constituted an ex officio justice of the peace under subsection (2) of section 5 of the Magistrates Act shall be deemed to be validly performed, notwithstanding the fact that such member or Managing Director, as the case may be, was not qualified to perform such as an ex officio justice of the peace by virtue of that subsection.
