AN ACT TO AMEND THE PENAL CODE.
BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and the House of Representatives of Ceylon in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: -
Short title. 1. This Act may be cited as the Penal Code (Amendment) Act, No. 6 of 1968.
Replacement of section 225 of Chapter 19. 2. Section 225 of the Penal Code is hereby repealed and the following new section substituted therefor: - Meaning of " coin " and " current coin "-
225. "Coin" is a metal used as money stamped and issued by the authority of the Government of Ceylon or under the Currency Ordinance, No. 21 of 1941, or any enactment in operation for the time being relating to the issue of coins in Ceylon or by the authority of the Govern ment of any part of Her Majesty's Realms and Territories or by the authority of the Government of any foreign country in order to be so used.
"Current coin" means coin which is lawfully current in Ceylon or in any part of Her Majesty's Realms and Territories or in any foreign country.
Illustrations (a) Cowries are not coin (b) Lumps or bars of unstamped metal, though used as money, are not coin. (c) Medals are not com inasmuch as they are not intended to be used as money. '
