PROCLAMATION NO. 496

DECLARING MARCH 22, 1969, AS A SPECIAL NATIONAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY.

WHEREAS, by virtue of Proclamation No. 410, the period from January 1 to December 31, 1969, has been declared as General Emilio Aguinaldo Centennial Year; and

WHEREAS, the centenary of the birth of General Emilio Aguinaldo on March 22, 1969, should properly highlight the celebration of the Aguinaldo Centennial Year;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the 22nd day of March 1969 as a Special National Public Holiday, so that the centenary of the birth of General Emilio Aguinaldo may be fittingly observed and duly honored by all freedom-loving Filipinos throughout the nation.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 16th day of December, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and sixty-eight.
