BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES

PROCLAMATION NO. 249

DECLARING 12 SEPTEMBER 2011 AS THE “NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR PEACE”

WHEREAS, the National Day of Prayer for Peace and Sanctification of the Clergy will be held in Lipa City on 12 September 2011;

WHEREAS, it is anticipated that thousands of lay pilgrims and participating clergies will flock to Lipa City to join the celebrations;

WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper that the Filipino people be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BENIGNO S. AQUINO III, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare 12 September 2011, as the “National Day of Prayer for Peace.”

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 6th day of September in the year of the Our Lord, Two Thousand and Eleven.
