MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR

No. 01 s. 2011

His Excellency, President Benigno S. Aquino III, directed the Chair of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, through Administrative Order No. 23 (A023), to Chair and organize the steering committee on national observances. A copy of AO 23 is attached herewith.

Pursuant to and by virtue of the authority granted under AO 23, a Steering Committee on National Observances is hereby created to undertake the planning and implementation of activities related to these national events:

The Chair, National Historical Commission of the Philippines

Chairman

Representative, Office of the Secretary, Department of the Interior and Local Government

Vice-Chairman

Representative, Office of the Secretary, Department of Education

Member

Representative, Office of the Secretary, Department of Tourism

Member

Representative, Office of the Secretary, Department of National Defense

Member

Representative, Office of the Secretary, Presidential Communications and Operations Office

Member

The Chair of the Committee may invite other government agencies, institutions, and individuals which it deems necessary, according to the thrust and requirements of each commemoration.

The constitution of the Committee shall take effect immediately and it shall subsist until the full performance and completion of its responsibilities and activities.
