CENTRES LAWS (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE, 2002 ORDINANCE LVIII OF 2002
An Ordinance to amend certain laws relating to certain Centres
WHEREAS it is expedient further to amend certain laws relating to Centres for the purposes hereinafter appearing;
AND WHEREAS, the President is satisfied that circumstances exist which render it necessary to take immediate action;
NOW, THEREFORE, in pursuance of the Proclamation of Emergency of the Fourteenth day of October, 1999, and the Provisional Constitution Order No.1 of 1999, read with the Provisional Constitution (Amendment) Order No.9 of 1999, and in exercise of all powers enabling him in that behalf, the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is pleased to make and promulgate the following Ordinance:­­
1. Short title and commencement.­(1) This Ordinance may be called the Centres Laws (Amendment) Ordinance, 2002.
 2. Amendment of certain laws. The laws specified in the schedule shall be amended in the manner specified in the fourth column thereof.

1. XXIV of 1974 The Centres of Excellence Act, 1974
After section 9, the following new section shall be inserted namely:­­
"9­A. Power to transfer Centres.­­The Federal Government may by Order published in the official Gazette and subject to such terms and conditions as it may think fit to impose, transfer any Centre to a University or, as the case may be, the Provincial Government."
2. XLV of 1975 The Area Study,Centres Act, 1975
After section 9 the following new section shall be inserted, namely:­​
"9­A. Power to transfer Centres.­­The Federal Government may, by Order published in the official Gazette and subject to such conditions as may be specified therein, transfer any. Centre to a University or, as the case may be, the Provincial Government."
3. XXVII of 1976 The Pakistan StudyCentres, Act, 1976
After section 10, the following new section shall be inserted, namely:­​


"10AA. Power to transfer Centres.­​ The Federal Government may, by Order published in the official Gazette and subject to such terms and conditions as may be specified therein, transfer any Centre to a University or, as the case may be the Provincial Government. "
