SOCIAL WELFARE (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT, 2002 (SECTION 16) (NO. 4) (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 2004.
The Minister for Social and Family Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on her by section 17 of the Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2002 (No. 8 of 2002), hereby orders as follows:
Citation.
1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2002 (Section 16) (No. 4) (Commencement) Order, 2004.
Commencement.
2. Section 16 of the Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2002 , in so far as it relates to Item 3 of Part 4, Items 1, 2, 5, 6, 8 and 9 of Part 5 and Item 2 of Part 6 of the Schedule to the said Act comes into operation on—
(a) 13 April 2004, for the purposes of the Districts of Kenmare and Castletownbere within the meaning of the Births and Deaths Registration Acts, 1863 to 1996, and
(b) 20 April 2004, for the purposes of the District of Dingle within the meaning of the Births and Deaths Registration Acts, 1863 to 1996.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.
(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)
This order provides for the commencement of the following items of the Schedule to the Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2002 in so far as it relates to the Districts of Kenmare, Castletownbere and Dingle:
Item 3 of Part 4, Items 1, 2, 5, 6, 8 and 9 of Part 5 and Item 2 of Part 6.
These items provide for amendments to the Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Acts and the Marriages (Ireland) Acts.
The commencement of these provisions is necessary to enable the electronic registration of births and deaths in the Civil Registration Offices in Kenmare and Castletownbere from the 13th April 2004 and in Dingle from the 20th April 2004 and to allow for the capture of additional information at the time of registration.
