5) NOTICE 2009

The Minister responsible for marine and ports services, in

exercise of the powers conferred by section 10(1) of the Marine Board Act

1962, gives the following Notice:

Citation

1 This Notice may be cited as the Marine Board (Control Over

Maritime Traffic) (No. 5) Notice 2009.

Christmas Boat Parade

2 (1) The Christmas Boat Parade will take place in Hamilton

Harbour on Saturday 12 December 2009.

(2) If the Christmas Boat Parade is postponed, it will take place

on Sunday 13 December 2009, or if further postponed, on Sunday 20

December 2009.

Restriction on movement of boats in Hamilton Harbour

3 (1) Except for boats participating in the Christmas Boat

Parade, the movement of boats is prohibited in the area of waters in

Hamilton Harbour on a line between Saltus Island and the eastern end of

Hinson’s Island to the Warwick Shoreline at Godet's Passage during the

hours beginning 6:00 p.m. and ending at 10:00 p.m. on the date on

which the Christmas Boat Parade takes place.

(2) Boats participating in the Christmas Boat Parade shall

observe a five-knots no wake restriction when navigating the area of

waters referred to in subsection (1).

Control over maritime traffic

4 Marshall boats shall exercise control over maritime traffic in or

near the area of waters referred to in section 3(1) and all mariners, pilots

and boatmen are required to exercise caution when approaching or

maneuvering in the area.
